Yes, but those agitators on the Kenmore washers I'm talking about from the 1980s only had a 90 degree arc. When set to slow, it didn't move the clothes adequately. IF the arc had been wide like you see here, it would be different. Amazing how that one went over the engineer's and designer's heads.

There is no such thing as an agitatorless washer. The other washers you are referring to, the agitators are called paddles, or baffles or wash plates.

BroccoliBeefed I do not like the washers with the wash plate.

These type of machines all do that.

After viewing these washers, I'm becoming a believer too. I feel a bit more confident and comfortable about selling them. As far as reliability, you never know. I feel terrible when I sell a machine to a friend or old time customer and seeing just 5 year life cycle. In the old days if a Maytag washer only lasted half of it's life span people were still satisfied after 10 years. Now I see machines with a 8-12 year life span but it is not uncommon for those to go half that. I say if you get a great deal on the washer then buy it with the understanding of what I mentioned above. In most cases when you spend a lot of money on a washer you are mainly buying bells & whistles and bragging rights and NOT longevity. These new line of GE washer are impressive. I should have worn that comfortable shirt (i have a big neck) to the wedding anyways because I was wearing my coat the whole time. I guess it time for the bleach. Thanks for your post!

I've got three washers and two dryers at home. In the between the master bath and closet I have a stacked pair of Whirlpool Duets that were on the main floor when I moved in. On the main floor is a pair of front load Speed Queens that I've got for about thirteen or fourteen years and brought with me from my last house. If anything ever happens to the Duets then I'll get a pair of Speed Queens upstairs too. In the garage I have a slop/laundry sink and I had an old Whirlpool portable hooked up to the faucet to wash rags. When it broke about two years ago I bought a new GE 1700 Series front loader from one of our area's major dealership's scratched and dented stores. This one had a scratch on the side. No dents. So far it's been completely free of problems and has cleaned extraordinary well considering that it's difficult to make tags look great. It's hooked up to the portable adapter from my old machine. Shame that GE couldn't straighten out their laundry program faster. They might not have needed to sell the company.

It has assembly called a platform and transmission assembly part number WH38X24354. Purchased as a two piece assembly. There is also a clutch sold separately.

For bowl clean cycle on a Fisher and Paykel agitator it takes almost 3 hours

it mostly only fills alot if you put it on bulky

I understand the frustration, hence the videos. It's more like between 1/2 and 3/4 at most.

JovialSentiments this washer will legit fill to the top, but it’s a pain. It has a deep fill button, but you literally need to be there to hold it down every time it fills to ensure you get enough water in the tub. i miss the old days.

I JUST BOUGHT ONE OF THESE A MONTH AGO AND MINE WOULD NOT FILL TO TOP EITHER SO I CALLED THE GE COMPANY THEY TOLD ME ALL THE NEW WASHERS ARE LIKE THIS THEY ALL HAVE SENSORS THAT TELL IT WHEN TO FILL AND HOW MUCH TO FILL THAT THERE WAS A LAW PASSED A FEDERAL REGULATION IN 2016 TO SAVE WATER IN ALL THE WASHERS NOW! ~ I FIXED MINE WHERE I BY PASSED THE LOCK LID AND I HAVE A 3 GAL BUCKET THAT I FILL MINE UP WITH WHEN I NEED MORE WATER! (IT HAD TO BE A MAN TO DECIDE WHAT WATER LEVEL THEY ALL SHOULD BE CAUSE FOR JEANS IT DOESN'T COVER THEM AT ALL ON BULK!) HOPE THIS HELPS! OTHER THAN THAT THE MACHINE IF VERY QUIET AND RUNS VERY WELL BUT YOU MUST ADD WATER! ~ P.S THIS ONE LEVELS ITSELF OUT WITHOUT A SENSOR TO STOP IT AND HAVE TO WAIT ALONG TIME FOR IT TO START AGAIN! ♥

It's a good washer. Just make sure you get a good deal on it. I have nothing bad to say about it.

Most old school washers will stop filling once the water pressure switch is satisfied even it it takes 24 hours to fill. New machines will throw an error code if it takes too long to fill. Slow fill can be due to a bad water inlet valve or restriction in the hoses (screens) or there may be a plumbing issue. Now, some of the current GE top loaders will not throw a code if it takes too long to fill, instead it waits for a certain amount of time and ready or not, it will start washing even if it is only a couple of inches of water. So long story short, make sure you have sufficient water pressure to your washer by removing the hoses off the washer and let them drain down the drain pipe. Also try holding the deep fill button, I think there is something in the manual about how to use the deep fill.

I can not remember if this unit has a deep rinse, but I think a deep rinse is critical for cleaner clothes.

Just went to an appliance shop, the newest models don't lock.

Sometimes, a company get really good a building stuff cheap. After a while, longevity start creeping back into the equation. I know it's a wishful thought, but i have seen it in the appliance industry before.
