The greatest NES game of all time imo. Still play this game to this day. Legendary/nostalgic music too.

This was a seriously underrated game I loved this game when I was a kid. Easily one of my favorites. It didn't get the recognition it deserved. It should be considered a classic.

Gosh I played this game so much when I was younger, loved it!

I have fond memories of this game, back when I was 4 or 5 years old. It was this and Super Mario Bros. 3 that my brother and I tackled for a fair length of time, writing down passwords when needing to save or when we got our butts kicked. I tackled it many years later, after finally remembering the name of the game, on emulator and relived the nostalgia, and found myself better able to appreciate this seemingly hidden gem of a game. Some of the boss and sub-boss fights (the lobster in particular in the shooter section, and the skeletal head in the overworld) I thought you couldn't no damage run, but...someone was crazy enough to prove me wrong on that - not to mention that some of the harder sub-bosses become normal enemies later on. I will say, the Mega Flash subweapon was super powerful, and I found that I always had to be careful with using during the crying eye demon head boss (at 29:30), and was utterly required to stand a chance against the final boss. I'll be honest, I was hoping to see the boss rush when you go to leave the planet, but considering that it's a gauntlet and all, can understand why it'd not make the video. 10/10, do love seeing this gem get the no damage boss run treatment. Also, fun fact about the Fireball subweapon (the one used primarily in the final boss fight) - while the exact angle and mechanics of doing so is hard to exactly master, the seaweed eyeball boss' stringy line attack CAN be deleted with a strong enough Fireball. It's especially useful if you can figure out how to pull it off when you fight that boss for the third time, since they're triple the length of the first fight which got shown at 4:20. While I can appreciate not showing the boss fights that are just harder versions of the originals, I suspect it might've *also* been pretty much impossible to pull a no damage run on, or at least far too long to put into the video if it's actually possible. I need to get an emulator and run this game again, jeeze.

Compile were masters of coding back in the 8-bit and 16-bit days! This game is a prime example of that! Sadly most of their games never left Japan and most that did were published by other companies or re-skinned into other games like Puyo Puyo becoming Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine and Kirby's Avalanche when it was released on the Genesis and SNES respectively.

I don't know what's better, you doing a boss run from this game, or the commdnt section under this video. So much lovr and praise for this wonderful hidddn gem. I can still clearly recall a time when all people said about this title was "Reeee, Zelda & Metroid vlone, REEEEEE, how dare this exist!?!", pushing this title into obscurity and it's hidden gem state. It's sad how many quality titles suffered a similar fate.

Thank you for creating this video. The Guardian Legend continues to be one of my favorite games that I wish received more recognition. This game has a beautiful soundtrack, challenging boss fights and an interesting and beautiful protagonist.

29:28 - I came here to see him do this... Wait, you're taking on Grimgrin with zero health and the Cutter Laser? 33:00 - Hah! Smart move. 35:11 - Nicely done. 38:09 - Okay, what's going on here? At only 20 chips, you shouldn't be firing full-spread, you should be firing only one bullet. 40:40 - Yeah, you have some wonkery going on. It might be because you've stitched together multiple plays to show case each boss and you're using the TGL gameplay mode from the password screen. If you're maxing at 800 chips, you shouldn't be firing the 2400 full-spread.

It seems that there are many underrated games hidden from the world that we know, but at least gamers can actually replay them.

The Japanese version says it's a sequel to Guardic. The Japanese title is Guardic Gaiden. EDIT: Some of the bosses on each sector plays the Guardic Boss theme

25:28 - The number of folks who don't realize this defies belief. The little green octopus creatures that show up in the organic shooter stages and absorb all of your fire don't cause damage on impact. They just blow up. He's not actually killing them with his weapons, they're just absorbing and block it until they collide with his hitbox and just die. Enemy Eraser also destroys them.

The graphics looks darn impressive for the NES, almost feels like a 16-bit video game.

I remember this! Too damn hard to understand for a preteen me. Just looking at bosses doesn’t show it, but it is a pretty involved game where you explore an asteroid, unlocking stuff.

This game is blaster master but with a spaceship instead of tank. And it's gorgeous

The first thing I saw related to this game was the huge planet looking creature in the into screen and the final boss from the Godzilla NES Ambient Visualizer video. Kinda disappointed that the boss here was just a head with arms and not a cyclopian kaiju.
