I think it would be more of like a throw away line for the Easter egg hunting people like, us, who watch these videos to see what we missed. My biggest questions coming out of this are: what is the collector doing and where? Also, when are we getting an episode of what if, where Drax saves his cousin from the go-bots who murdered him?

I didn't realize earlier that Groot's presents were all callbacks from this film itself 😭 Except Drax's gift, they all looked like moments from their time together maybe never shown on film. Such a joyful and fun project with emotion. Pom killed it here with Dave And Kevin. Mantis And Peter's final scene was so heartwarming. Hope Marvel does more Specials and hope to get a prequel special of Rocket And Groot. Can't wait for Vol 3 and hope to get the trailer by the latest December.

Just an addition- the lyric about the elf wanting to be a dentist is a reference to the old Rudolph cartoon where Hermey, the elf dreams of being a dentist instead of making toys.

The sleeping with the fishes line is a robot chicken reference because on the robot christmas special the elf bombs as a dentist and goes back to santa for his job and forgiveness. Santa says he can some back then has him killed godfather style on the lake in a boat by another elf.

The delivery that Peter is signing off for at the beginning is also a reference to the Star Wars Galaxy's Edge at Hollywood Studios Orlando. The delivery prop has a QR code on that is the same as the ones you find around Galaxy's Edge. If you stay at the hotel connected to the park you use these QR codes to complete tasks on your phone that customise your experience at the hotel

So yeah...Gunn wanted David Bowie to be in Vol. 2, but unfortunately this was when he was privately undergoing cancer treatment and passed away. ☹️ Also, the chibi heads of Mantis and Drax were by MintMint Doodles, a well known Marvel fan artist who draws a lot of chibi GOTG art. Though you can't deny the plot of kidnapping a celebrity and then the ensuing outrage is reminiscent of "The Muppets".

i actually think the scene where kevin started singing was a reference to "Brother, Where Art Thou?" the camera is the same way and one of the backups get up close to the mic to sing a verse with him like in Brother where art thou when the 2 backup boys sing a verse by going up to the mic by leaning in then the 3rd just plays guitar

The animation reminded me more of "American Pop" than any of Bakshi's other movies. This special was a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to whatever the MCU does next.
