At 40:26 is the key question which Mrs May could not answer!!! The stupid eye squinting face she pulled because she had been found out tells you everything you need to know - the Irish border issue was invented to keep the UK trapped in the EU! If Mrs May is unable to answer a simple question of “in the event of a hard border in Ireland who would build it - the UK, the Irish or the EU?” then these ‘negotiations’ have been a shambles as surely this would have been discussed! I welcome any remainers answering this question as Mrs May can’t!!

Tess Tickle - It was the UK who occupied the Irish Island and hold on to it even after the Irish fought for their independence. So the EU tried to find a work how the Good Friday Agreement an international treaty could be uphold. This is a mess that exist only because of the decision of the UK.

@@TorianTammas is it not northern Ireland that want to stay as part of the UK and not IRELAND? I'm asking as I don't get why the British government don't just give the Irish they're land back seeing as the British government have only got what they have because they've always took what they want??
@TorianTammas
@TorianTammas 5 жыл бұрын
@@commonsenselogic9901 This is a very good question. Northern Ireland costs the British tax payer around 14 billion (amusingly more as EU membership) and as such are quite a costly luxury. As the majority in NI voted to stay in the EU. They could at least do a referendum to see if a majority in NI wants to leave the UK or not. So they could reunite with Ireland. So no backstop and all would be so much easier.

It's worth pointing out - WE ARE THE EU. We have been part of the EU since day 1. We've shaped the EU. Think about it. It's not a 'them' and 'us' situation. It's a we and I situation. We are the EU, but I(the UK) am in denial.

This is wrong in pretty much every conceivable way. The Treaty of Paris (formally the Treaty establishing the European Coal and Steel Community) was signed on 18 April 1951 between France, West Germany, Italy and the three Benelux countries (Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands), establishing the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), which subsequently became the foundation of the European Union. In 1957, Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and West Germany signed the Treaty of Rome, which created the European Economic Community (EEC) and established a customs union. They also signed another pact creating the European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom) for co-operation in developing nuclear energy. The UK did not sign the Rome treaty until 1973 with Denmark and Ireland. 'Modern' Europe is considered from the date of the Maastricht Treaty from 1992-2007, which saw the introduction of the Euro, which was positively smashed down in the house of commons. From the beginning of the 2010s, the cohesion of the European Union, following the introduction of several new countries, faced serious debt crisis' and questions about open borders and new emergent threats following wars in the middle east. The UK have taken a fundamentally different stance based on the fact that we joined late, have different reasons for being in the EU, contribute more than many other nations and do not have the capacity to trade effectively with rapidly growing economies such as America and China. The EU are protectionist, which is what sets them apart from the UK and leads to the idea that their ideologies clash with the ones we have based the formation of our business culture on.

Furthermore add the complexity ... that she rightly has to be evasive on some sensitive areas ... e.g. when asked “what if “ questions ... that she may have to later take a stance on with the EU. Get real she cant answer some forthrightly as that could undermine her negotiating position with the EU .... er dummy that would hurt us. I guess you must be one of these dumb blind Corbynistas, clueless as to how one negotiates and happy to score a five second win at the expense of the Nation. Look at Corbyns 6 tests ... what a joke. Respect the will of the people but stay in the single market and the customs union ... ooops thats impossible! Unless of course Corbyn caves in and pays the EU trillions of Euros for the privelidge! Which he would do .... but hell it don’t matter, because he would “borrow it” until we were bankrupt and the next Cons gov came in and cleared up the financial mess. Barnier would massacre Corbyn .... the only way you win over the EU is by constantly reminding them of the logic of Your argument. How would Corbyn convince the EU to comply with his 6th Test. I.e. to have a better deal than we currently have. Ludicrous to think he could as a leaving, non-fee paying member, get a better deal than existing Members, who pay their fees! That man is a total Moron!

Her ability to resolutely refuse to answer a question is quite remarkable ... she would engender a lot of good will if she showed her human side now and then. For example saying “over my dead body will a border be built between Northern Ireland and Rep of Ireland” - she never gambles and shows her real self, which is needed from a strategic perspective sometimes as a national figurehead. Complete robot and it’s admirable sometimes, if only from a quality robotics programming sense!

Similarly whether anyone has any understanding of what real benefits that deal will give them specifically compared to their position now or in the event that we end up without a trading deal with the EU or the rest of the world... It seems people are a bit too keen to critise her, rather than offer particular suggestions about what they personally would like from any deal.

One of the most funamental issues over brexit is future trade deals. With the arrangements in Mays deal we can't realistically negotiate any trade deals until our status with the EU is settled. This is going to leave the country in limbo until this can be achieved. 3 or maybe 4 years of negotiating before any deal is signed. I don't think many countries of any significance who would be willing to negotiate on that basis... Also there's the issue of the cost in terms of uncertainty which will certainly take the form of companies relocating out of the UK and not making investments in the UK economy.. A no deal brexit paints an even gloomier picture.

You can call me “conspiracy theorist” if you wish. Those are the facts: 1: For a person to reach this dizzy height of a prime minister, she must be clever, intelligent, high energy, have the “gift of the gab”. 2: Europe knows that the English have a “stiff upper lips”, Europe also knows that the English will only respond if they get hit in their pocket. 3: she has declared that she is to remain in the EU. She takes her orders from the EU, She manipulated the negotiations, ignored two previous Brexit secretaries to a point where they had to resign, so that the choice for Britain is between the “fire and the Fryingpan”, her deal or the back-stop, and forever rule takers, The rules will be such that the British economy will be hit so hard to the point where the British will think being with EU is better, Britain will reapply to rejoin the EU, ….BINGO,… the necessary condition will be imposed so that to join the Euro and to join the Schengen system,… yes, yes, I know this is far fetched, not an acceptable condition, for now, but Europe is calculating for the end game, that the drop of the British economy such then it will be accepting the conditions. She knows this and is culpable with this European plot to get Britain to accept the euro, dump the sterling and join the Schengen system. I estimate that in 5 years from now, we will have the euro and the Schengen system. sorry for the gloom......
