The Cleveland Guardians recent struggle continued heading in to the All-Star break as they dropped 2 of 3 in Tampa Bay. Despite their recent slump they still head in to the break with the best record in the American League and a 4.5 game lead over the Twins in the AL Central.
Off the field, the Guardians added 3 players to the franchise on the first day of the MLB draft. The trio is highlighted by the first overall pick Travis Bazzana, who starred at Oregon State, and became the first 2B ever to be selcected with the top overall pick in the draft!

So many data points were due for regression, we'll see how much actually occurs. Fry was never going to keep impersonating Mike Trout, and even Kwan, Naylor and Jose weren't going to continue their torrid pace. All the extra-inning wins, the 25 come from behind wins, even the .731 winning % at home are all unlikely to be statistically sustainable. They've given themselves a nice playoff cushion, but this team is most likely somewhere between the team we saw the first 77 games and the last 18.

We have piles of alleged middle infield prospects and need outfielders and pitchers. So they drafted a 2nd baseman. I hope he gets more than 80 AB before they give up on him.

MLB comparison for Bazzana is Grady Sizemore. He'll be the one to stick at second base and Gimi will go to shortstop. Could end up with two gold gloves up the middle. Brito is gonna end up at 1B/DH or traded for a pitcher this year. They're under less pressure to get a center fielder with Martinez looking so good out there and Chase will be ready in RF for next year. That's a solid team and Bazzana helps that immensely

The only middle infielder I have heard so far, who could be on the trading block is Jazz Chisolm Jr. on the Marlins. He is not having a very good year with a .321 OBP.

We drafted clint Frazier #5 basically no major leauge career. This is why i never cared about mlb draft. Only 2 or 3 guys in the first round make the major leagues. You can literally pick blind and get the same results.

So happy they got Bazzanna! Not sure why everyone was so high on condon.... maybe condon will be way better than Bazz but condon's home oad splits are odd.

He is one of the safest picks we could have made. The guy who the reds picked at #2 was a prima donna and burned bridges with colleges he had pitched at, Trevor Bauer like attitude issues. Charlie Condon’s the #3 pick’s college team had accusations of stealing signs and cheating at home, tough to gauge just how good he is when his stats could be jaded. Being from Australia has nothing to do with how good he is or can be. He should be a solid fielder and a great hitter, better than Kipnis, getting compared to Sizemore. A better contact hitter than Sizemore with alittle less power.

His defense at second is awful, so he is not able to play short stop ever, anywhere. Horrible pick in reality.

6.75 ERA in 2 AAA starts. In his last start, he went 4 innings…Gave up 6 hits on 4 runs with 6 SO’s. Sounds like it isn’t getting any better!

No doubt about it, dude will go and hit 50 HRs and they take another 5'9" second baseman. Front office needs to be fired immediately if they ever want to seriously compete for championships.
