This video begins with a daring plan to cross a busy road in an Americanised part of Guatemala City (speaking figuratively: Guatemala is an American country too). After surviving that adventure, I find myself in the Parque Central, the large and beautiful plaza at the heart of Guatemala City.
Facing the Parque Central is the Palacio Nacional, the even more impressive presidential palace, now a museum and a people's palace. The statue in the thumbnail is of a resp[lendant quetzal, the national bird of Guatemala: it stands in a courtyard in the Palacio Nacional.
