Lyman doesn't talk like a politician. He talks like a free-market businessman. I appreciate his answers on housing, water, abortion, the bottom-up approach and more. I feel like Governor Cox is reasonable and I agree with many of his positions, but my priorities align more with those of Phil Lyman. He has my vote and I hope he gets a chance to take charge.

Cox is a snake don't be charmed. One technique lawyers use is the "this but not this" technique to convince you they're reasonable. By saying "not this" to a ridiculous position it helps them convince you their psychopathic behavior is ok

My observations: 1- Cox looked like he was on drugs. 2- Cox demonstrated that he can talk his way around an answer, Lyman acknowledged each problem and barreled right through. 3- cox said "look" about 13 times. You cant make me "look" no matter how many self empowerment books you read. Im here to decide on governor, not follow orders. 4. Lyman seemed like a real person with incredible experience in bottom up governing. Cox seemed like a used car salesman trying to sell government expansion to us like we are idiots. I wasnt decided until tonight but after seeing pasty boy make a fool out of himself, im definitely voting for lyman.

After watching this it is clear cut who is the right man for the job. Lyman has a full understanding of how government is intended to operate and he expressed his concerns with how it is operating under its current administration. He understands the roles of local, county, state and federal governments. Instead of centralized power he understands what all these agencies responsibilities are. We desperately need to get back to what the system was intended to do

They asked my public land question!! Cox sorta lied. He said he is defending access with lawsuits to protect Utah. Why are we getting literally 1000s of miles of roads and trails closed in Utah under his watch? It is way harder to get back than to stop it happening. The BLM and NFS are out of control closing things this year. Utah literally just needs to say no. It is that easy. You have your super cool Overland rig and like to travel those backroads to some far off canyon? You have that sweet 200k sprinter van and want to see the wilds of Utah on some far off dirt road? You hunt or dirtbike? You better be asking these questions about public land and voting knowing who will defend public land access. The BLM does not read your comments. The NFS has like 4 rangers on patrol in Utah. We need to just say no, otherwise we will be like CA with a year long reserve America reservation system and get to camp in an organized campground with 100 other families and their screaming kids10 ft from your window.

Cox used taxpayer money for betterments and improvements on his own personal residence for security when a governor’s mansion is already provided by taxpayers. Cox vetoed the bill that prevented boys from competing against our females in schools. Cox is lieutenant governor Henderson contacted every clerk of the state advising them not to offer my team members public record. She is going through her second round of appeals. She lost the first time. In the midst of a water crisis Cox contracted our saltwater brine for lithium extraction. He also contracted our southern Aquaphor. This forces our water into evaporation ponds for the extraction of a mineral that benefits China and Korea. When Cox was lieutenant governor he had conferences on 15 minute cities and is in support of these types of cities that would reduce carbon emissions in our carbon footprint. It would also take our individual liberty to move freely across this land. Coxes family business is in the telecoms industry. They are very much in support of smart cities, surveillance state. Cox’s lieutenant governor along with Ricky Hatch have strong armed the legislator against voting for a good election integrity bills.

Rent and housing are absolutely unaffordable! Food costs have skyrocketed. Utah can boast about being the best economy, but in Biden's America, what does that even mean? I dont want to be under the leadership of a man who belittles members of his own party and won't answer good questions, but instead respond with profanity. Cox, even in this debate, seems unstable. @@elijahbutterfield4869 I’m talking about housing. He understands what needs to be done to address the affordable housing crisis. Which is the number 1 threat to Utah right now. He has worked alongside experts to take action with bills like HB572 (read up on it) and continues to visit and work with city officials all over the state to encourage them to remove red tape and the poisonous NIMBY mindset that is preventing the building of smaller starter homes. If we want our children and grandchildren to ever achieve homeownership and even STAY in our state, we need a leader like Cox who, yes, understands the complexities behind the issue. Lyman’s hands-off approach would have gotten us no where and into further turmoil.

I really appreciated the question posed by the young man, Bruce, who is a political science major. His question had to do with mandating the study of government. Mr. Lyman seemed to be answering that because students enjoy freedoms in this country they will eventually get around to studying the history of our country and how those freedoms came into being. I think that is wishful thinking. I really liked the answer Governor Cox gave on this one. I think too many young people are clueless about the history of our country, including The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, etc, because it is not always taught in schools. Yes, mandates can get in the way of learning, but I'm all for required courses in American history and government.

I’m not at all surprised at the negative comments here. Yes, it can be frustrating to read. But that was my observation even in my years as a state delegate. The folks who are harder “party liners”, just for the sake of being such, tend to be the loudest…and the most negative. I think we have a great governor who represents the people of Utah very well. I love his initiative to “disagree better.” Again, it represents us well as a population. It certainly seems to follow my Savior’s example of how to treat others. Cox is 100% correct that housing affordability is the single most important issue. His ideas are far superior than Lyman's, thought he too seems to fetishize the single family home instead of townhouses, rowhouses, condos, twinhomes, 4-plex, cottage homes (e.g. missing middle). Lyman's position is essentially the HOUSES act by Mike Lee. That won't work. The answer is to unlock affordability is state pre-emption to cut down on NIMBY local regulation that prohibits/restricts affordable. Lyman talks a big game about "free market principles" but when you have local cities that vote down affordable light density (which Lyman denigrates and attacks) he gives away the game; he simply doesn't get it. To put it another way, it's a lot more important to legalize the construction of all types of housing everywhere in Utah than it is to fight about how much light a Temple Heber valley will give off.

@@KH-fi9cm I like our current governor, Utah has done pretty well under his belt. I think the biggest issue we're facing is housing and hopefully the governor finds a solution. What don't you like about Cox and why do you prefer Lyman

@@alpz6295selling 1/3 of land to China, all of which surround our military bases, Screwing us over on multiple accounts, Be it the housing crisis, job crisis, or state debt and economic crisis. Using tax payer dollars to pay for his campaign instead of donors, Cutting deals with elites to force Utah to be the Spearhead of the "fourth industrial revolution", cutting corrupt deals to build two (so far) open air prisons known as "15 minute smart cities" which are based on the CCP government model of social credit scores. Encouraging the woke mind virus among children, and implementing D.E.I in social settings, institutions, and schools, leading to kids being groomed and wearing fetish and kink content in schools, Not taking care of the roads, not taking care of the people, not listening to the people, expanding government to the extreme. Censoring and shutting people down on social media and public settings, after telling them to "disagree better". Implementing and pressuring mask vaccine mandates on companies corporations and the free people of this state. Bussing in thousands and thousands of criminal aliens under his watch, to give pay outs and hand outs to them, instead of struggling young people. And that's just a short list off the top of my head from a very long list of offenses he has committed. He's crooked and corrupt, he is the blue-est red state governor in the union, and he is a crybully who borderlines on state dictator. Basically he's a utah Gavin Newsom, that wants to turn SLC into NYC. Take your pick. But if you think at all that it hasn't been too good in some places, it's going to get a whole lot worse.

Housing costs are truly out of control, freeways are full of litter and I don't get why Cox is not advertising with red for Republican, his signs are green and yellow!!! That is so telling. The farm land is being swallowed up by cheap apartment buildings. Where is the water for those buildings coming from?? Cox has got to go.
@Hans_Peterson
@Hans_Peterson Ай бұрын
Most residential water usage is used for watering landscaping, indoor water usage is a small fraction of residential water usage. So When you developed farm land into housing, wither they are single family homes or apartment, the water usage actually goes down on that land.

What are all of you talking about? Spencer Cox honestly is a good governor who learns from things like the failure of Gavin Newsom in California and learns from cities like Las Vegas with how they conserve water so the salt lake doesn't dry up, which would kill your state, he has created affordable housing and helped reduce homelessness here in Utah, I think Phil just wants the power but spencer is passionate about this state which is what you people need, stronger communities! look I'm good at reading people and if you want a horrible governor elect this Lyman guy but he's not honest and he seems like an idiot and a generic politician, get out of your echo chambers and listen to what these men are saying and the vibe. Make Utah the best place to live! Understand who really cares about your state and who is just interested in a title

I’m voting for Cox and this is why: 1. Cox comes across as more diplomatic than Lyman, i.e. he would be able to work with opposing views and find amicable solutions. 2. Cox is more knowledgeable than Lyman about the issues. For example, Olympics. I think Olympics would be great for Utah. According to polling, 79% of Utah agrees, but Lyman is out of touch. (This is just an example that comes to mind rn, not my main issue) Govt Ed in school-i agree with Cox, that it needs to be taught in school. Lyman’s hands-off approach to civics ed is one of the reasons we’re in a mess. There were a couple other questions that Lyman didn’t know about (can’t recall rn, i wish they had chapters or time stamps on this vid) 3. He would love to get rid of the state income tax. Lyman gave some incoherent response. 4. They both agree on a lot of issues, like illegal immigration, but again, Cox comes across as more professional and someone who would be able to persuade the opposition instead of “aggressive rhetoric”. Some might say “that’s weak”, but people like to do things they agree to do, not when they are bullied to do it. (One can attract more bees with honey than vinegar, or however that saying goes. 5. Finally, my impression of Lyman is that his people skills are not as good as Cox’. Lyman strikes me as he would be confrontational and would push opposition away, instead of persuading them. And Lyman is a maga extremist kook. Maga hijacked the GOP and we need to get it back. Thank you
