Radric Davis, better known as the legendary Gucci Mane, is an Atlanta rapper known for his insane work ethic: he has released 10 studio albums, 3 EP’s and 70 mixtapes.
▶️ Who is Metro Boomin?
Leland Wayne, or “Metro Boomin'” was born in 1993, in St. Louis, Missouri. Having expressed an interest for beat-making in his early teens. The first production program he used was “FruityLoops,” a gift from his mother. He found that he liked production more than rapping and later claimed to have put out more than 5 beats every day for an extended time. Metro Boomin' began commuting to Atlanta, Georgia, where he had already forged a relationship with Atlanta Trap Legend, Gucci Mane who had ascended in popularity.
Upon graduating from high school, Young Metro briefly attended Morehouse College, pursuing a degree in business management. He would drop out after only a single semester to dedicate all his time to production. Today, he’s worked with most major rappers, many famous R&B acts, and more.
He produced the majority of the Drake & Future project ‘What A Time To Be Alive’, and executive produced it as well.
▶️ What is Droptopwop?
Drop Top Wop (stylized as Droptopwop) is a collaborative mixtape by American rapper Gucci Mane and music producer Metro Boomin. It was released on May 26, 2017 by Atlantic Records and 1017 Records to celebrate Gucci Mane's one year anniversary since being released from prison. The entire album is produced by Metro Boomin, along with extra production from Southside, London on da Track, DJ Spinz and many more. It features guest appearances from American rappers Offset, 2 Chainz, Young Dolph and Rick Ross.
After announcing the project in early 2017, Gucci Mane revealed the album cover, track listing and release date two days before its release on May 24, 2017. The album cover is inspired by the cover of the Clipse album Lord Willin' (2002).
