Wow... put me on Blast! All what you said is good stuff. It just seems no matter how I try to get ahead of those excuses They just become more of more of a barrier to me. I live in Concord NC and it appears virtually impossible to locate other creators to collaborate with. Plus Im a bit of a social introvert so that doesn't help; Nor do I have "friends", social media groups etc. (I've tried The Facebook thingy and stuck out )who I can go to and talk them into joining me on filming pursuits. On top of it all (like most people) I work a regular job (truck driver). I know this is all just another variation of the excuses you've laid out but they are obstacles I just can't seem to brush past. Maybe I just give the excuses too much power IDK but I've decided I need to push harder and not let this paralysis extinguish my dream. I know I can't do it on my own. But as of right now it's all I got. You've given me good info here at the least to look past my fears. Wish me luck!

Living in Europe and we are in total confinement due to the COVID-19 situation (Police are patrolling the streets, we are not allowed to be outdoors for more than half an hour per day). Since I'm spending so much time alone, at home, with my cat I've been wanting to work on my creativity and filmmaking skills. Considering the situation though that means, no crew, no locations apart from my flat, maximum one actor (+ my cat), but you know what despite the restrictions, I'm pretty sure something simple is definitely doable if you put time and effort into it (plus now you're not spending time looking for a crew and locations 'cause you know that you won't get any...)

This was a great video! Great advice! I have always wanted to make films as well and I am still having trouble deciding which camera to use. I can't decide between Sony, Canon, or Panasonic. I am thinking about the Panasonic g7 or the Sony a6100 or something along those lines. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks for any help you can give me. When the camera whip pans, why does everything look diagonal? I have that issue with some footage I'm working on right now myself.

I'm writing the scrip for my first short now. The one rule in this video that I'm breaking is about location. The movie needs to take place in Silicon Valley in big expensive offices, but we're on the other side of the U.S. and we're 16 so we can't exactly go there. We also need guns and a chopper, but we're gonna figure that out when we get there and likely use toys and special camera tricks and what not. We don't care if it looks cheesy, it's a parody of an actual film and we might get like 30 people to watch it.

My problem is finding other people who want to be part of a crew. I've tried joining film making clubs, but it's all swamped with other people wanting their projects made first. I have a camera with a tripod and slider and sound recording gear, and I have about a millions scripts written, but there's just no one around who is interested.
