What a slaughter. Love how fair y'all played though, even correcting doing too much damage to the Wolfhound after realizing one of the Mad Dogs (Vultures) sprinted. Makes the game fun when you can play it like that.

That scenario was bananas I can only imagine what the FASA game designers were smoking when they came up with that. Jay's Centurion looks like the one from the CityTech 2nd edition box, that's a seriously ancient model there.

That is the old CityTech Centurion. By the time the campaign is over I will have showed up with 3 different Centurion models. (The old cartoon was 90% Centurions and Wolfhounds)

The strikers only need to survive 6 rounds and the falcons are supposed to adhere to Zellbrigen.

Okay... one medium and NINE heavy Clan 'mechs against a mixed IS lance with one aerospace fighter as support? I would not even show up as the IS player.

Ouch, that was a rough bout! So glad that you put the terrain down, though. Even the cartoon shows rock structures like that on Dustball, so it actually gave the Strikers some kind of chance! As for Malthus' summoner, I noticed that Hesperus II Minis (over on Etsy) has the HH and J variant Summoners and both of those lack the big missile pod. Maybe they could print you a prime with a similar torso section?

So as terribly unbalanced as this scenario is, I think playing with Zellbrigen rules might actually make it not an absolute stomp. Instead of focusing fire the Clanners display their incredible tactical genius by arguing about who has the most glory and running one at a time to duel each of the Inner Sphere Mechs.

and dont forget turning off some of their weapons too to show just how much they are gigachads. I often joke that clanners would eventually resort to sticks and rocks, and then bid away the stick just to prove their superiority XD Remember, the mroe you bid away and the further up the waiting line you get!

That's typical for the old BT scenarios. They're often so onesided (aka not playtested once) that you don't even need to bother setting up your forces. 😀 (In CBT it would be even worse. 😀)

Narrative missions aren't necessarily supposed to be fair and even, that's the whole point. This one is trying to make the best of a bad situation, the spheroids aren't supposed to destroy 2 stars of mechs, just delay them. Battletech lore is full of guarding actions like this.

@@Level30Commoner read the beginning of the scenarios section all clan mechs are supposed to play by clan rules ie one on one fights even when the strikers don't. Granted its still not fair, but not impossible.

That scenario seems ridiculous, 10 clanners vs 4 Inner sphere? Even with the win-condition advantages that does not seem anything like fair. The fact that the dice rolls seemed to be skewed in the clanner's favor just added insult to injury.

so awesome that you can play BT in so many different ways. you've got Total Warfare, Alpha Strike, Strategic Battleforce, and all the different campaign stuff. great to see more BT on this channel, it's becoming my favorite series!

Alpha Strike is great for breaking out the D12s! I say just roll a D6 if you get a 12 on the weapon roll and on a 6 it's a crit. Slightly more likely than traditional rules, but still nearly a once a game thing statistically.

The only way to get a Thor M is to go metal. You can kludge one if you get a Thor B (code BT-011) and then the Thor M left arm (OP-016) and right arm (OP-017).

I genuinely have no idea how the IS players could win this one. The clan play can literally just run up the board and blast the IS off by turn 3, unless the clan player takes massive penalties somehow.

theres another version of this scenario where the Strikers do better, kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rJ6kec5imqiRYas.html I think the point of this mission is the clanners have been cooking in the sun for hours waiting for New Monacos declared forces (like in the cartoon) so the idea is the clan mechs are already mega hot which give the strikers a little bit of a chance.

So do you use however many dice for the amount of damage each range does? Like say for example I have a madcat that does 7 damage on short and medium range would that be 7 d12s?

Speeds up resolving variable damage, and removes the bell curve which exists for the pilot roll value with 2D6 but doesn’t exist for the target number modifiers (1 point on the dice of a D12 has a consistent probability value, while it does not on a multi dice roll). A TN modifier (range, movement and TMM) therefore stack consistently but increase in value at the top end exponentially, which doesn’t track with linear stacking.

3:38 - I love the concept of using multiple D12s to speed up play and provide for the variable damage mechanic. But can you tell me what is the single Pilot Die mechanic does again? I didn't seem to catch that in your other videos. I get that you roll the number of D12s equaling the damage potential per range band, but I need to know what the different die for the pilot signifies.

It just keeps the number of crits being rolled reasonable. Still three times more likely than a 2d6 roll…. But not like every attack lol
