@@annadrew4 I think most conventional/traditional dads prefer a son to play ball with, go to the racetrack, and teach how to fix a car because they don't expect a daughter to want any of that (which even if likely is not always true obviously, take into account, say, tomboys). but it might also partially be that they know that most of the time fathers feel the need to protect their daughters from danger and from potentially abusive partners/friends while sons can usually protect themselves physically better, and they don't want to feel like they have to shelter their kids. but idk, im just guessing.

My dad wanted a girl, he was thrilled when I was born as a girl. He is the best dad ever. I am so sorry for all of the "unwanted"girls. I hope their fathers realise how wrong they were and how lucky they are to have girls. This makes me really sad...

Dads really need to take after their wives. The mothers are always happy no matter what gender the baby is, but why is the dad always upset when the baby is a girl? That’s literally disappointed in a person you’ve never met because of something they can’t change. Really says a lot about fathers these days.

@@omair4416 But that doesn’t excuse the fact that so many father are disappointed when they get a daughter. Like I get it, a son, you can teach him football, sports, he’ll carry your family name and such, but you can teach a girl the same, it’s not that difficult. Besides, like I said, the mother doesn’t care and loves the child unconditionally no matter what gender it is, some dads need to learn from their wives. You didn’t answer anything, you just said, “it’s not like we don’t love our daughters”, but didn’t address the many husbands that get upset when they get a daughter.

⁠@@TattedColoradoMama honestly, I don’t think it’s wrong for soon to be mothers or fathers to have gender preferences. There is a something about a mother/daughter & father/son relationship that is unique due to them sharing the same gender and the life experiences that comes with being that gender. I don’t think gender preferences makes the soon to be mothers or fathers bad parents/people, they just need to treat their children with love & respect whether it’s a boy or a girl (even if they weren’t it’s preference)

I just hate gender reveals. You can always tell that the dads are disappointed and upset when it’s a girl. But then they become so obnoxious when it’s a boy. They make it so clear that they’d rather have a boy, and it just kinda makes me feel sick.
