This lameness was easily corrected. It was due to a large rock being stuck in her shoe. We will watch her carefully for the next few days and soak her hoof in epsom salt to decrease the healing time if she has a stone bruise. We got lucky this time instead of it being an unknown reason for lameness.
My horsemanship tip is to go and be around your horses daily. We have found skin irritations, cuts, mares with issues during pregnancy, fences down, automatic waterers not working, and more. It is better to find the issues earlier to lessen the impact.
