Christina is wicked smart, but I am not following her thought process on "Switzerland." Three quarters of the people from Switzerland are going to be native speakers of German or French, which presumably would have similar accent traces as the voices of either 2 or 3. The other quarter would be Italian -speaking, which would be pretty easily identified.
@nightthinker44402 жыл бұрын
true. didn't get why she said that either. maybe it was just a random guess because she had no idea. or maybe she didn't had in mind that these three languages are spoken in switzerland and only knew about the swissgerman accent in english, which does differ from the german accent. and swissgerman may not be a total different language but I would call it a very strong dialect. it also has it's own words and stuff. as a german person who lives in a region were standard german is spoken, it is quite hard for me to totally understand when swissgerman is spoken, because the proununciation is really different. but I have no idea how the the italian and french from switzerland sounds compared to how it's spoken in italy and france. still, don't think the first woman sounded neither italian nor french or german.
@mimiwinter66152 жыл бұрын

I think that I would have guessed that Jane was from China by her pronunciation. And I'm Pretty sure that I would have also guessed Soly was French, as it is a distinct and unique accent. Ellen would be more difficult for me because her English is very good, and I think that Christina had an advantage in this challenge because she has some German friends. I think that Elita was the toughest to pin down, and that Christina got pretty close with Thailand, but there are many countries that are distinct in sound, but close compared to their neighboring countries.

That was fun, but how about finding English-speakers from different countries? Here in South Africa we have 11 official languages, but English is used pretty universally in the cities. Most people here, if they can speak English (a large percentage do), speak it with an accent characteristic of their own language group. Most times I can understand it well, but sometimes I'm absolutely stumped! By the way, we also have more East Indians here than anywhere else in the world, apart from India of course. Most Indian South Africans speak English at home, but they too have a characteristic accent fairly similar to Indians from India.

german and english are quite close languages (both germanic) so it’s not a surprise that you can copy american english well but I think british english is even easier to sound like as a german native

It is interesting to compare many country’s accents!! I’m a Japanese!! I think Japanese English accents is flat accents. What is called, “katakana” accents. Maybe my pronunciation is sometimes Japanese accents, sometimes British accents, sometimes American accents… Because I’m a Japanese, have my cousin who is mixed race Japanese and UK and usually lives in UK, listened to American accents in the school.
The Chinese girl is so cute and pretty, I love her voice

Why the hell would you guess Switserland if they also speak German and French there?
@nightthinker44402 жыл бұрын
true. didn't get why she said that either. maybe it was just a random guess because she had no idea. or maybe she didn't had in mind that these three languages are spoken in switzerland and only knew about the swissgerman accent in english, which does differ from the german accent. and swissgerman may not be a total different language but I would call it a very strong dialect. it also has it's own words and stuff. as a german person who lives in a region were standard german is spoken, it is quite hard for me to totally understand when swissgerman is spoken, because the proununciation is really different. but I have no idea how the the italian and french from switzerland sounds compared to how it's spoken in italy and france. still, don't think the first woman sounded neither italian nor french or german.
