Omg. Thank you soooo much!!! I have a T-Mobile 7T Pro 5G McLaren (the very first 1+ device to have this issue and the only one besides the 8/8Pro). I had never backed up my original persist.img and my fingerprint has been broken for well over 2 months. I had actually tried the factory calibration but had no idea what I was doing. Luckily I had backed up my persist (after breaking fp) but before messing with calibration over a month ago. In combination of the instructions on XDA and this video, and my fingerprint scanner is back working perfectly in only about 10 minutes. Didn't need to msm to older version or anything!! A huge thank you to you and everyone else who helped figured this out!!

Saved my ass with this. I also did not downgrade my phone with the MSM. I just made a backup of my persist, then followed the instructions to enter calibration mode, tansfer the old data and engineermode over, reboot, and viola! Able to add a fingerprint again.

I just replaced the motherboard of a op7t pro mclaren, and i leave the fingerprintscanner of the older motherboard with the new one, but It doesn't recognize the scanner, what should I do?

Well this method helped me restore the fingerprint sensor for the Tmobile Oneplus 8T. Had some issues following the method due to there not being an android 10 msm tool anywhere online so I used 11. Luckily I backed up the persist before FP failed. So all I did was extract the persist and copy and paste the 2 folders accordingly and it works even after updating to a later android. When trying to access engineer mode for the FP test it would state device is unlocked and all test would fail. Got it to work still, thanks

I copied persist to the .img file as indicated, however data and engineermode directories coped to the .img were empty - thoughts? fingerprint reader still borked. :/

any idea why fingerprint hw doesn't work on custom kernels on oos 10 ? its like after flashign custom kernel the fingerprint option itself is gone from settings as if the system doesnt recognize the hw

After flashing 10.5.4 fingerprint not showing in security option, only face unlock and screen lock is show, But after flashing in android 11 than fingerprint option showing but enrollment error obtained. In 10.5.8 when click back on after showing fingerprint enrollment error senser is showing in screen and after putting finger on it , senser start blinking but not vibrating
