As on of the biggest cruise ports in Europe, it is almost guaranteed, as a cruiser, at some point you will need to sail out of Barcelona. In our Guide To Cruising From Barcelona, we will help you avoid easy to make mistakes, and how to ensure your time there will be much better spent, and keep some of your holiday money in your pockets, rather than in the tourist trap areas.
As usual with our videos, we record these in a single take to give you our honest, non-scripted opinions. And as always our videos and all content is shot by us, in 4K and no stock images are used.

Great guide! Barcelona must be one of my favourite cities to start a cruise from due to the quality of the food that you'll find almost EVERYWHERE! That said, I didn't realise there were so many Michelin restaurants over there - wow!

Thanks Fraser, ours too. There are so many good places to eat, we have to force ourselves to try new places or we'd just go back to the same ones time and time again.

ahhhh..we love sailing from Barcelona. Have found our favourite Tapas restaurant and other eating places that we always tend to go to now. Drink faaaaar too much sangria, and eat faaaar too much - however, it's good training for when we get onto the ship haha. And OMG, we walked past that place a few weeks ago where people were drinking steins of sangria on les rambles lol. As always you tow leave me with a smile on my face x

Great City, I would advise getting on the tourist bus which does a fixed route, takes you pass the majority of attractions, 1 fee and hop on and off as you please, the buses are every 15 mins or so, from memory there are 2 routes.

Absolutely, the Hop on Hop Off Buses are a great way of figuring out and seeing the city, we have done both routes, and loved it.

If your hotel is near one of its stops, the Aerobus is cheaper than a taxi and an easy way to get into Barcelona from the airport

Great point Helen, we totally forgot about the Aerobus (we've never taken it, so it was out of mind).

Would add that if you're spending time before or after the cruise an all day metro card is fantastic value and really efficient, also a great way to get to & from the airport if you travel reasonably light (wow, that's a big case Linzi).

Metro card is a great tip, trying to think if we've ever bought one, we must have! Now is it a big case or is Linzi very small😂

I would add, because of the business of the port and other transport [including diesel trains, and all the taxis and busses], and the industry nearby, it is one of the more polluted cities of Europe. Which is really a pity, as there is so much to see there, and so much I would have liked to have seen, but i had to leave asap after arriving. Too heavy on my lungs. So for others with lung-heart ailments I would advice not to go, or atleast be very very prepared. Lleida and Zaragoza are somewhat nearby and much better air quality.

That is a very fair point Eleonora, and not one we've (fortunately) had to think about, but we will try to take better note of it when we got to other cities, and comment on it where we can.

I will be disembarking at Barcelona and need to get to my hotel in town is there a bus from the port or is a taxi the only practical option with suitcase?
@SuiteNatured

We don’t ever remember seeing regular buses (other than excursions or shuttles). You’d be better off we suspect with a taxi or Uber. Hope this helps. Linzi and Mark

Thanks Linzi & Mark you have confirmed my suspicions that taxi is perhaps the only option Enjoy your next voyage 😀

There is the blue cruise bus that goes from all the cruise terminals to the bottom of La Rambla. And there are plenty of local bus and metro options but a taxi (or someting like Uber/Cabify/Freenow) would be much simpler.
