The Jimin who did a collaboration with Xiumin on his song "Call You Bae" is the leader and main rapper of the girl group AOA. It's not Jimin from BTS. Right off hand, I could probably name at least 5 well-known idols whose Korean name is Jimin. Xiumin is pronounced like Shoe-Min, X in Chinese is pronounced like sh in English.

Well Finesse, I would say that it would be nice if Exo were globally recognized as Bts is today, but that is something many kpop artists are not about. Kpop artists just want to be themselves and do what they love, no matter what scale of exposure their music reaches. And as Exo members know, their 10 years of music/careers have opened up to them incredible global popularity and success, being in the public eye, being in the media constantly...and having this worldwide exposure..after 10 years working hard, it still comes down to one fact...they do what they love not expecting anything..people love them, and Exo loves their fans back...and it's done all in the name of their love of music...WITHOUT validation from the Western world, the Western music scene, the Western award shows.. They do what they do for the love of their fans. They have a massive worldwide fandom that started in 2013. They have traveled the world and back, including the States. They became an overnight sensation after their song "Growl" came out and the mv went viral. And Exo's vocals were then recognized....and Exo were in such high demand all over the world, they started selling out stadiums everywhere...younger groups like Bts at the time were always watching and rooting for Exo...and Exo were very successful regardless of the Western world, although they have tons of fans in the US. But I get what your saying. Their level of talent should be recognized in the west like Bts today... When I fell into the kpop hole in 2006, I was disenchanted by the Western music scene as a whole, but have my favorites regardless...as a born and bred American I've had the pleasure of discovering Kpop and the great talent it had to offer. I pretty much listened to nothing else, but I still have my favorite Western artists, because I love all music.... When I discovered Exo in 2011 I was ecstatic at the vocals this group had...on the same note when I discovered Bts in 2013 I fell in love with them too. Bulletproof damned near ended me....two groups with two different styles, sounds, vibes and talents I would soon discover... Back then in 2013, SM knew they had a hit group in Exo, but chose not to promote in the States...they had concerts in the States but no more than that. At that time it wouldn't have been the right time to promote an Asian group into the American scene, seeing as Latino music and artists were trying to be included too. So it definitely would have been too early, regardless of Exo's vocals. Korean language and looks were not on the horizon for the Western scene, as it is today. I was grateful that they didn't promote in the US, because they were really spread thin as it was being so busy with their careers. At that time kpoppers like me never gave a thought about Western validation or their awards. Or their tv shows. We'd rather keep Exo to ourselves in a way, because we love and support them in all ways, and never gave a thought of the Western scene. Just like Exo members, they want to do what they love, do it well, and appreciate the fans by giving of themselves in many ways....so it kind of baffles me that so many Americans are just discovering Exo now and are blown away by their vocals. I tend to feel because Exo came first before Bts, and are still relevant in the kpop scene, some are definitely click bait channels that I do not bother with, but you seem genuinely interested in Exo. So when you say you think that Exo should be in the Western scene BECAUSE of their vocal abilities...well I think that ship has sailed for Exo ..so I only give attention to Bts and their success in the Western world. I am ecstatic to see them do what they do and accomplish in the Western scene, I applaud their hard work and opportunities that open up for them. Go Bts! But that's the only reason I watch award shows nowadays (stopped watching American award shows years ago), to see Bts. I am so proud of them. But Exo is my ult group because of the vocals. And they are just great guys who I have grown up with...and my support for them is deep. And I will always leave the validation to Bts, just let me know if and when any Exo music is released, whether group music or a member's solo music. I am there. Thank you for your interest in Exo. Hey thank you for all the love support you're showing for Exo ❤️ and I think I agree Exo deserves to be more "Global"... like I'm well aware of that they have a great international fanbase...but still i feel like they do deserve international recognition cause of the insane amount of talent they posses. Like each and i mean EACH of the members are multitalented and hugely successful and respected in the industry. I'm not asking about western validation, Exo as a group deserves international respect and recognition cause this type of multi talented combo is really rare. Its other thing if the members don't want it...but with proper promo and everything, they can be one of the best and hugely respected kpop group in the world.

I agree that EXO should be more recognized globally. They definitely have the talent, a strong fandom, an amazing discography, etc. Unfortunately that is not enough especially in the modern world wherein popularity is above talent. A great marketing strategy and a full support from the company are definitely a big factor. EXO can definitely compete considering that they have great vocals and their songs are really catchy. Hopefully SM Ent will start promoting them more as a group globally especially the west once they are all done with their military service. Well, I am really not expecting anything from SM Ent. I think that's one of the disadvantages of being part of a big company. EXO had their time, they had the grandest debut in kpop with the best concept and all. They really made it so BIG in South Korea and Asia but SM has other artists too. I personally think that they already got what they need from EXO (return of investments) that's why they moved to promoting the next group thinking that they can come up with another group that could be as big as EXO. So far, SM failed on that part. Other SM group stans that debuted after EXO may hate me for saying this but no one comes close to EXO's achievements. SM had target market for EXO, in Korea and China (EXO-K and EXO-M) and that's big enough for the new debuted boy group. You know how big China population. As i know in the year EXO debuted, the sub-unit EXO-M has gone to performed in US in KCON 2012. Maybe that time KPop not so widespread as now. Just popular to Asian people/Asian descendant or people who had interest to Korea in US. And you know how there are 3 chinese members who left EXO on their beginning of success. And that's many negative comments that EXO had no long life. But now🤪, 10 years after they debut, many KZfaqrs especially from Western, know how EXO exist, i feel happy, cause for me, they still standing as group till now really just a wonderful for my low life. As everyone said , EXO are global (without any western promotions and that's why you don't see them in western interviews)it's really not like "they have few western fans" trust me , people would go crazy if they went to west to promote, it's a mistake exo's company did, they didn't use their fame to get in west . But now as they are 11 years old group , I don't think members really care about popularity (they stopped going on award shows in 2017 , from 1019 they kinda minimize their promotion, )they do what ever they like, if you started to go deeper, you will see, as solo artists, they never do trendy music , they do what they like, Balled, rock balled, r&b, retro pop these are not trendy in kpop right now but exo members do these. Also whenever kpop industry felt boring or music sound bad(in 2021only very few groups released actually good music)EXO is the one that save the year, I never saw people saying , EXO's this Comeback isn't good enough, or it's not them .They always excel the best.

Wow… Jersey girl.👍 If I may 2 things. The c word is like the n word is like the spic word. The reason I say spic is because I don’t feed into the white mans’ word for the Spanish people. I don’t let that spic word dictate or dominate who I am. When my lawyer boss used to get stupid with me I would tell him that he was such a white n because the word came from his ancestors not mine. His eyes would open wide but he didn’t say anything because he knew he was in the wrong and I didn’t care because it also bothered them that I had a picture of my dark skinned grandmother who was Taino, African and Puerto Rican. However times have changed and in today’s Society people are much more sensitive to these words and not boomeranging them back to where they came from meaning the source. I say Asian people have exotic eyes like that of a cat. As for SM Entertainment, I may not agree with some things but their marketing skills are mad crazy. These people have money, they worked hard for it. They know what they’re doing. They don’t want to sellout their own culture, meaning they don’t want to Americanize it. This is one of the reason that made K-pop so unique in the 1st place. EXO are a high quality high caliber unique group who don’t need to sell themselves because the high quality of their music and production sells itself naturally without promotions. I like that they kept it cultural and high quality is greater than popularity. However, SM did debute SuperM/Avengers of K-pop and appeased the Americans with English lyrics from 2019-2021. Baekyhun being the leader of the group had to return to Korea for military duty. SuperM are the Matrix and Masters of their groups, the best of the best. They’re not active for the moment but they’re still selling. The problem in this day and age is that most people are becoming more and more lazy to read (cc’s/other languages) due to impatience and technology. It’s only the few who take their time to read.🤗
