How can contemporary conflicts be more effectively resolved?
We have seen over the last 70 years, since World War II, that we have been involved in conflicts with big powers. We have been involved in so many conflicts around the world, but we have never resolved them using and harnessing the full power of Islamic principles. That is why these conflicts have also endured for so long.
What we come to do today is to find that sweet spot that blends the enormous practice and experience that comes from the international norms, as well as harvesting the richness of Islamic history and Islamic texts.
We do not come to this as the new kids on the block with a new solution and all the answers to all the problems, but we come with the excitement that if we speak to the parties of conflicts in a language that they understand, in a religious milieu that they are comfortable with, and in a cultural way in which they can move forward, then I think we are more effective.
