Running a similar cutter on a Caterpillar 287B. Thinking of adding some mulching teeth to make a “poor man’s cutter/mulcher”. I tend to cut a lot of different material and the mulching would definitely help, at least until I can upgrade both my machine and set up. You’ve definitely given a lot of good tips for anyone beginning! I’d add that if you’re on a steeper slope or grade to watch how high you raise your cutter, if cutting a smaller tree or sapling. Very easy to throw your balance off depending on how your orientated to cut.

That's an interesting idea, renting a forestry mulcher is another option for heavy jobs or when you want everything cut up real fine. Good point about tipping, these cutters are long and definitely add some weight!

I’m trying to decide on one right now, after researching all the respected names in the industry I’ve whittled it down to brush wolf, MTL and Quick Attach. Mechanically all the “supermowers” I’ll call them have a massive 2 or even 3 layer disc with 4 flat blades sandwiched in between. A step down from that are the single disc versions with 3 or 4 blades that are attached to the disc by pin and bolt, obviously not as protected as the super class. Some have carbide mulching teeth on the bottom of the disc some don’t. All are rated for cutting down 10” trees and mulching 6” trees. Any thoughts?

@@ExcavationRevelation their top of the line cutter is priced at $16,500 but I don’t think there’s anything better out there, the warranty underscores that.

What PSI does it run at to keep it from being over worked and getting hot? Does the brush hog take about 2k psi when steadily moving forward? Thank you for the video

Around 2k is pretty average. Many standard flow cutters have a 3k psi relief valve to protect things

Hey man, I just got a used skidsteer and am looking to making money with it. I bought a grapple and tore down an old house so far. What do you charge per hour for brush mowing like this? Do you rent the sttschment?

Nice, what kind did you get? I cover what I charge very briefly at the end of the video but usually around $100/hr these days. I rent it out occasionally to people that I know and trust.

@excavationrevelation1414 haha I couldn't get to the end of the video my daughter and wiener dog wanted attention before dinner. Mine is a 2004 cat 247b with the asv tracks. It was real dirty when I got it like an inch of sludge in the belly pan amd lived outside with no door on most it's life. Cleaned ot up amd fixed a leak in the fuel injection pump and she's all set now.
