Guided tour of Porto Cathedral, the most important monument in Porto (also known as Oporto), Portugal. Construction of the Porto Cathedral began in the 12th century, however, it underwent various modifications and additions over the centuries. The cathedral features a mix of architectural styles. The facade is characterized by its robustness and simplicity, with two imposing square towers flanking the central rose window. Porto Cathedral is situated on a hill overlooking the historic center of Porto, and offers panoramic views of the city and the Douro River.

Buenas tardes, no ha podido calificar mejor a la catedral de Oporto, es sencillamente impresionante. He visto el vídeo dos veces porque no quería perderme ningún detalle. Los azulejos son maravillosos (lástima que algunos esten deteriorados aunque, afortunadamente, son pocos). Las capillas y el claustro son preciosos. Desde la azotea que está sobre el claustro, la catedral más me ha parecido un castillo y las vistas de la ciudad son estupendas. Muchísimas gracias por hacernos disfrutar de su maravilloso país. 😊

Boa tarde Miguel, agora sim conheço por dentro a Catedral do Porto, infelizmente quando aí fui, visitei apenas a área externa. Bela e com uma arquitetura refinada , mas na minha opinião bem simples para uma catedral, mas pela localização possui uma bela visão panorâmica da cidade e principalmente do Rio Douro. Outro detalhe da área externa é o Pelourinho, mesmo sendo uma réplica eu acho um dos mais belos em detalhes que existe em Portugal, pelo menos eu acho isso...Um abraço e tenha uma ótima semana 👏🤝

Olá Sergio! 😀 Esta foi a minha 2ª tentativa para filmar o interior da catedral, na 1ª estava fechada devido aos festejos do São João que iriam ocorrer nesse dia. Sim, concordo com o pelourinho, é dos mais bonitos que já vi e tem um aspeto bem antigo (apesar de não ser). Abraço e uma boa semana, já regressei das minhas viagens! 🤝

Thank you, Miguel, for allowing us to virtually and in our imagination visit Porto’s beautiful Cathedral where, as it is with all religious edifices, beauty; grandeur; culture; the mathematics of engineering; the preservation of faith through artistic innovation; permanency and fleetingness; conflict and tranquility; belief and doubt; acceptance and rejection; not to mention centralized institutional power and authority on exhibition - all of which are expressions of humanity’s fear of its own malevolence (injustice) and of the thought that deity’s benevolence (justice) might not spare us - are all on full display. My comment will no doubt seem inappropriate to some. Impropriety on my part notwithstanding, it is inconveniently true that because we are only human "the more things change the more they stay the same", as evidenced by that fact that even as I was commenting on your video world powers founded on secular and religious belief are seeking power for power’s sake, in particular in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Of course, there is also beauty for beauty’s sake, which is why I couldn’t help but notice that at minute 30:20 of the video the view from the highest-point-of-the-Cathedral of the Clérigos Church tower in the distance is eerily reminiscent of El Greco’s painting, “View of Toledo”.

Здравей, Мигел!😀Радост е пак да видя катедралата и по-спокойно да я разгледам. Близо до нея е църквата на Света Клара, която е построена по-късно, също заслужава да се посети. Когато имаш само един ден в Порто, и тичаш от една към друга забележителност, няма време за задълбочен анализ. А тогава непрекъснато валеше проливен дъжд със силен вятър, което допълнително усложняваше ситуацията. ☂Порто е пълен със съкровища, едно от най-прелестните места. 🤩 Благодаря за удоволствието! И напред по португалската земя ...🤗

Освен Мигел, вие сте единственият, който някога е отговорил на моите коментари или е добавил нещо ценно към тях. Благодаря ви за това. Аз съм американец и живея в Тексас. Предполагам, че обичаш Португалия толкова, колкото и аз. Вашите коментари са написани на български, така че предполагам, че България е вашата родна страна. Infelizmente apesar de ter nascido mais ao norte de Portugal, só fui uma vez se não me engano ao Porto por ocasião da preparação dos documentos para vir para o Brasil, pensei que tinha tirado todos os documentos em Lisboa, mas ao abrir o passaporte no outro dia vi um carimbo de uma autarquia do Porto, mas sincera- mente não me lembro de nada da cidade, também de 14 anos para 79, lá vai tempo. Abçs e até o próximo e uma boa se- mana.

Где еще есть такой уютный собор и мужской монастырь? Но без плитки азулежу на первом этаже. И с 2 лавками с инкрустированными коваными спинками у стены, примыкающей к собору и двумя входами от этой стены в собор? А внутренний дворик с зеленым газоном и нессколько кустов? Да, и с розеткой над входом в собор.
