I care about how my character looks for myself way more than I care what anyone else thinks about it. Sure it’s nice if someone compliments my character, but it’s far from my driving factor of buying or grinding for cosmetics.

What exactly are you winning in GW2? You're conflating time saving with 'Winning'. What GW2 provides is pay for convenience. If your definition of winning is skipping everything and being in end game gear within a horizontal progression game, what's the point of playing?

Gw2 pvp is somewhat about skill, but basicly matchmaking is so random, that 90% of games is about you end up in weaker or stronger team... Moreover pvp got rock paper scissors balance so you the skill is more about avoid the fights you cant win and advance kiting...

For me gear treadmil is dreadful, thats why I quit ESO and play GW2 as my main MMO. The need to constantly farm new best set and upgrade it was killing my fun from the game, and kept me away from both pvp and cyro, and all the sweaty cheesers. Here, I can just jump into pvp or wvw every time I feel like it and enjoy myself. I'm not a hardcore pvp player though. At the end of the day, both approaches seems like a valid game design choises for me - I just prefer the other. Your arguments about it didnt really make much sense though. Like come on bro, you still can have same dopamine rush from outplaying a player, as from outgearing them, and girls still won't like you more when youre geared better than other players. And equipment in real life sports matter.... :D P2W is here, but to fairly low degree and I find it acceptable. It didnt disrupt my game when I was broke student not spending a cent on a game, it's not disrupting me now, when I buy stuff sometimes to save time as a working person. There are way way worse MMOs out there.

If you can spend additional money to influence gameplay it's p2w. But when you bring this up a lot of people disagree. Most wow players still don't believe wow is p2w when you can buy gold with real money and then buy gear with gold xD

People would appreciate you and your arguments more if you could have just focused your arguments on the game and less comparing it in real life. I mean many people play video games for a long time and harness those skill not for girls to look at them but probably just because they just enjoy the game and want to be useful to their in game friends and guildmates. And personally farming or grinding in game is no different from buying in game items to avoid grinding if we include real life experience. Some gamers chose to use their time grinding long hours so that instead of buying in game equipment they chose to spend their real life money to treat themselves a nice field trip vacation. While others chose to spend money from their real life grind and long hours job for a lesser time in farming in games and more time adventuring. And yes you have many strong arguments there, guildwars 2 can be P2W depending on what you buy in game like buying gold for example in order to quickly achieve those ascended gears early. But buying for outfit to 'LOOK GOOD' I think is not entirely to win against others and I believe many other people out there bought them NOT TO SHOW OFF as you said, which you failed to consider other gamer's perspective on why they want their character to look good. Yes some wants to show off but we should have considered that some bought them because they're tired of how they previously looked like, or because they really like how those outfit sparkle and they want to have it for themselves without the intention of showing off. Some may just have bought them to 'look good' not for others but for themselves to reward themselves of the time and grind they have made to earn so much gold and converted to gem for their character.
