In the first video of this 2 part series we started with the headboard and footboard. In this video I show the step by step process for completing a Rustic Farmhouse style Captains Platform Bed with Storage Drawers. This beautiful, heavy duty bed is simple to make using inexpensive dimensional lumber that's readily available at your local home improvement center. The finished product is a solid, heirloom quality piece topped with the premium Sunset Luxe mattress from our friends at Helix Sleep. Excellent build, Jeremy! Nice method of sizing your drawer sides in relation to their slides in the their space! About your End Tables, you could build a small cabinet that swings on your headboard posts. You'd have full access to the 2 open spaces you're left with. Swing them away in the End Table position and pull them toward you while laying in bed....Dinner Tray, Laptop Desk, Book Reading Table...etc. I think if done right it would add additional interest alone in their operation! 😉 Thanks, Jeremy! When I was a kid, my parents had 3 twin beds with 6 drawers (3 top / 3 bottom) made for my brothers and me. No headboard or footboard. They still have them and the drawers still work. They had casters put on the bottom, so we could roll them, but that caused an issue when we had to take them in and out of the rooms.
