** ONE BREATH AROUND THE WORLD **
NEW FILM: Our new short film (12 min) is finally out. Turn out the light, put your headphones and freedive with me around the world
This great adventure was possible thanks to the support of a great team
* Julie Gautier, my wife. One more time she did an AMAZING work. Everything she is shooting with her camera become magic. Of course, she shot as usual all the images on breath hold!
* Almo Film and his boss Morgan Le Faucheur for his support as co producer of the project during the post production process.
* Ben Nardini, the multi task guy: Editing, Sound design and drone pilot!
* Guillaume Ferran, the magician behind the original soundtrack
* Arthur Paux, as usual, who made the beautiful color correction
* Leonard Mercier added a great touch with the compositing and stabilization
* Xavier Fulbert / Ideocast made the sound mix
* Franck Seguin the fantastic photographer who made a book edited by Glenat #apleinsouffle
Of course, nothing would be possible without the safety and logistic support from our friends / freedivers around the world: Wilfried Souza, Nico, Dolswim, Julien Borde, Pranamaya Freediving, Rodrigo Salsas, Louis Pasquer, Suzanne Lim, Luke Schroeder, Catalin Craciun, Freediving Coron, Carlo Navarro, MJ Paula, Odessa Bugarin, Ryuzo Shinomiya, Tomoka Tsukakoshi, Kikachiro and Shotaro Maja, Denis Grosmaire, Moorea freediving, Sane Richmond, Tetamanu Village et Diving, Patea Alexandre, Tevai Malinowski, Monique Daudon, Antero Joki, Maria Hellinger, Kiki Bosch
Supported by Cressi, Nauticam, Department of Tourism - Philippines, Bluenery
Special thanks: Clovis Kerville, Mauritius Film Development Corporation, René Heuzey, Divers' Ocean, Juli and Salomon, Imam El Dio, Daniel Minnella, Ville de Nice, Véronique El Bahjaoui, Hélène De Tayrac-Senik, Bastien Soleil
Special thanks to The Oceania Project for the whale song at the end: soundcloud.com/iwhales

There's a saying in Chinese which translates to "You can conquer a mountain but you can never conquer the ocean"
@thorsten8790
@thorsten8790 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah but the chinese saying does not refer to the ocean that way because it hides so much, but generally refers to water since water comes closes to the dao and moves with the grain, not against it like a mountain.

To this day this is one of the greatest visual displays I've ever seen. Everytime it reminds me of the first time, it took me to another planet, I never imagined such clarity, not because of footage only, but because of the human POV and your movement... I didn't even know freediving was a possibility a few years ago when I discovered this.. I quit smoking as a habit and trying to recover my lung capacity so that one day maybe I can freedive.. to a level where I may experience another planet. Thank you for this masterpiece and inspiring my soul

The reason and inspiration for me, to start freediving by myself. As it is stated in "Dune Messia": "I saw men going into the ocean for the first time in their life. When they left it, they have changed. Something washed of them." That was my experience with the sea. It moved something deep inside me. I never want to miss this feeling. Ever.

Few years ago this video inspired me to quit smoking so I can improve my lung capacity, and while I failed I believe I ultimately suceeded in quitting and this MASTERPIECE is a key source of that inspiration. I watched this again today, in 4k using Airpods Max gen 1 headphones in a dark room, my motivation to explore the planet is renewed + all the amazing under water technology that will be available for public use! Thank you Guillaume and team, unreal bringing this to millions of people.

It made me cry seeing the beautiful underwater world. I did not appreciate it that much before as I just swim a little and back to the surface because I got scared of the blues then seeing these wonderful structure, the whales, and the vast ocean floor, I felt like some missing pieces in my life are back. Thank you so much!

If anyone is wondering the ending of Guillaume walking up onto the beach is in Nice where he grew up and discovered his love for the ocean. The exact spot is the Plage de Carras, the hill to the right is the Colline du Chateau home to the castle of Nice that overlooks the city's port. You can see an "I Love Nice" statue on the promenade as they pan right just before the video ends. I don't think it was an accident that they chose perhaps the most bustling and touristic spot of his hometown to end the video.

I harbored a similarly contradictory feeling. The scenes all appeared to be natural features of the world's seas, but seemed otherworldly and unrecognizable in some capacity. It was a dynamic between confirmation and confusion which left me wondering how the imagery was created, but ultimately I had to realize that it was the Earth we live on. Then at the end when the main subject emerges from the surf and walks up the beach amidst the noisy crowd, I could see the contrast of experience when it comes to the ocean. The beach-goers' primary experience with the world's oceans is the domesticated beach. In contrast, the main subject of the film wanders through these diverse seascapes of varying geologies and climates. It seemed to highlight how little known these beauties of nature are to the general public. The denial (for lack of a better word) when it comes to the existence of these incredible seascapes which I experienced supports that.
