I love how his moveset ties into the attitude of the character: He is clearly limiting his strength, not only by using a gun, but also in how he uses it- If he can use magic to be able to hit you from any location, making his gun shoot fire, lightning or poison should be child's play, but it would take the fun out of beating superhuman people like Ky or Sol with regular bullets.

I see your point, but they're not regular bullets. In story mode he sliced his finger on Nago's sword and made bullets from his blood. That was why they could hurt Sol, who normally heals faster than he can get shot.

Yes and still in massive numbers unfortunately. God I can take the lamed down gameplay because the game is still really sick especially with certain characters but certain characters also get on my nerve when I do a single move and the numbers and letters are so big they are cut off at the bottom because the screen isnt even big enough to fit the unnecessarily massive combo counter. I think this is the dumbest thing to do with such a good looking game

I knew they were clean but damn

The fact that he always has you dicey at gunpoint feels right at home with how he is in story mode. Can't wait to laugh like a madman when I just keep rolling back and forth. At first I thought it was weird how the local magic wielding society man of GG was just a gunner character, but as I rewatched I totally get the intent and love the execution.

Depends on whether our normals will go through Chaos's clones. Also, if he can't block in gun stance, then that means raw One Vision shenanigans are on the table against him. We'd have the option to spend 50 meter for the threat of absolutely blowing him up for even thinking about starting his offense.

I have a feeling all those people that said "I'm going to main Happy when he comes out" (even before he was announced) are the same ones come the 30th will be back to their former mains pretty quick. Heavy on the resource management (concentration, bullets, and Tension), 3 stances (Normal, At the Ready, Steady Aim), 2 of which you cannot block, and 1 you can't move or block, this will be a very technical and advanced character and they don't tend to stay popular for long. That being said, I can't wait to see what the lab monsters can do with him.

@@HellecticMojo I wouldn't exactly call Nago a technical character, though I would still agree he's advanced. His movement isn't straightforward, and knowing how to manage his meter is important. But we did see a lot of people drop him as they couldn't unlock his potential fast enough to feel good playing him. Sure I have no doubts there will be a few that stick with the character and really put in the work cause they do really like the character, but my point was there are going to be a lot that don't.

Arcsys has made characters who fight with hair, yo-yos, Benadryl shadow monsters, hair, fans, a ball and chain, giant swords held up by ball demons, wings, a pool cue, a boat anchor, giant dual cross sword-things, a flag, a bed, a guitar, and giant scalpel. And of course because guilty gear lore is fucking insane, a standard pistol that fires bullets is about as crazy as all of those.

Have you two even seen ranger in the new dnf fighting game a NEW arcsys game with an actual GUNNER GUNNER that doesn't have to aim it takes real stupid points to put aiming in a 2d fighting game im sorry thats aiming reloading not aiming and all that intricate shit without super armor they coulda atleast made it so that one of the extra commands could be cool a punish for when someone inevitably charges us with sol while we're AHEM RELOADING AND AIMING

Happy chaos seems like a heavy mixup character (probably strike/throw) that is super scary when he has resources but useless when he doesn’t. He seems CAPABLE of zoning, but it’s for sure not his main goal.

My money isn't on strike throw mixups. With roll, and fire being able to instantly hit crossup the moment you get past your opponent, he's most likely going to get his mixups with left/rights.

@@Etholux Yes! I think that Asuka is just what he needs to be. I think his play style fits his personality perfectly. Some people don’t want to take the time to learn is all. If he didn’t have to charge mana, he would be a real problem. There was a lot of anticipation that he would be a playable character from those of us who have followed the game from the beginning.

The deus ex machina name for his move makes alot of sense on alot of levels Happy chaos created a robot called the universal will which was basicaly god in guilty gear. dues ex machina means "god in the machine" happy chaos literaly put godlike powers in a machine aswell he was contained within the vessel of the universal will so aswell he was a god in a machine. lastly and most obviously, the move can hit anywhere probably has a quick startup and reloads his guns so it can save his ass in tough situations which is what a dues ex machina is used for, which is to save characters from dire situations. Also scapegoat might be a reference to how he did alot of bad shit back in the gear wars which got pinned on asuka making asuka a scapegoat for happy's crimes

I'm not too sure about the zoning, seems like unless you hit them with the curse ball the gun reticle is defeated by walking forward. I think he can play brief keepaway but I dont think he'll be trying to keep folks fullscreen like Axl

I like how some people immediately reacted to this with "Oh no, Elphelt 2.0! SSS-tier guaranteed." Meanwhile, the man needs to rely on his 5D for a basic high/low mixup. True, his roll can catch people pretty decently I reckon, but it ain't no alpha-blade shenanigans and if experience has taught me anything, my first instinct is to check if that thing is or isn't throw-immune.
