Must be a Junior B match if he's thinking of pints as he takes a free.

My friend I met at UNI told me about this sport...he was a small Irish village somewhere...never seen it before...but the music...the rain lashing down ...the atmosphere portrayed in this advert gave me goosebumps...pretty exhilarating end bit...

@beanseeker my hometown too. It's our GAA pitch and Headon's pub. Remember when it was being filmed, years ago - there are some locals as extras too - recognise a couple of faces but don't know their names. Kinda cool isn't it??!!

Hurling is one of the most oldest, fast paced, dangerous, skillfull games in the world, it goes back 100's of years. It is also one of the most exting games to watch, i do enjoy watching ice-hockey, but try ice-hockey without all the pads, and your nearly at hurling. Nothing better than an All Ireland Hurling final at Croke Park.

Ice hockey is a faster game I'll give ya that. But I have FULL respect to Hurling. Those guys are as brave as you get. Complete nutters just in it for the thrill of sport. Gotta love that!

@DJC11757 Don't fancy one thanks, I got one on the arm from a particularly well struck cricket ball when I was at school that was swollen for about a week after and cricket balls and sliotar are a similar composition, either way I don't plan on getting in the way of either anytime soon!

@DJC11757 yeah ...took a sliotar to the crotch once ...was incapacitated for 5 mins ...shinty guys wear cups, but i wonder how they run properly with them. i also took a deflected sliotar to the mouth once ...wasn't fun either, but it comes with the game

Guinness sponsor the hurling championship, the most Irish of games. And Diageo get an English guy to play the role of the free taker. That was clever thinking!
@Rhodesian196511 жыл бұрын
I don't care how tacky this may sound (yes, I know it is only an advert) but it makes an incredibly important point with potent succintness & is therefore a great inspiration, whatever its original purpose was.

@Renegade6666 жыл бұрын
sadly, it was composed specifically for this advert, although you can hear samples from the Prodigy - Poison and Breathe, electronica was popular at the time and you can clearly hear the influence

I will leave this to my Irish brethren to enjoy, while I am Irish (well, my family left Co. Kerry in 1712), I must confess I do not like Guinness. Now hurling (I loved Stathams explanation of a cross between hockey and murder) I could get an interest in. Just need someone to explain it to me. Someone patient and not off their nut on Guinness! :)
