I have returned to this video dozens and dozens of times to watch Midkiff shred. Funny thing is--the guitarist, poor guy--is quite a killer player, too. Cryin' shame he's sitting next to this mountain of a player.

They are equally matched IMHO. Looks like a lot of mutual respect going on to me.

Absolutely brilliant. I was fortunate enough to see Curtis Jones in Helsby, England in 2005 when he visited the Robin Hood pub at the invitation of the Williams family and John Dowling (Banjo player extraordinaire). He played a free gig and sold his album from when he was in a band called Acoustic Room; He was a very nice, humble guy. No airs and graces and a pleasure to meet.

So, I'm in Guitar Center the other day and this cat comes into the acoustic room and starts tearing it up with Gypsy jazz, bluegrass, Hot Club, etc. I'm thinkin, this guy is gonna run out of notes. It was Curtis Jones, super nice guy and one hell of a picker. It was truley a pleasure.

A blistering performance from a couple of geniuses. I know others can bash this out, probably just as good but, here the are, and fair play to them. I like their contrast in styles too from the, almost dinner jacket bolt upright technique of Jeff Midkiff to the frantic, and raring to go hands-on style of Curtis Jones, both clearly enjoyed the gig and so did I. Great Post, Thanks..
