I remember when I was in high school, KZfaq didn’t exist and - of course - there weren’t tutorials. How difficult it was to learn songs, to find out the way to play them... but when we boys made it, it was pure joy... anyway, these lessons are wonderful and open plenty of doors....

This lesson is so awesome and really helpful. I’m a little lost on the solo and was hoping you would help me clear it up. It looks like you talked through two parts. 1. After the C hammering on the 3rd fret D (F), you went 3rd fret on A, open D, 2nd fret D, high E open, 1st fret on B. 2. The next time started on the 2nd fret on the G, open G, open D, open D, 2nd fret on the D. But then when you just did it live if you will it seemed like the last sequence you hit what seemed like double the amount of notes above and then finished with an Am. Kind of hard to describe, hope I got this mostly right and would appreciate clarification. Anyway, thanks again. Enjoy your videos and your style and humor.
@RyanLendt4 жыл бұрын
yeah I think the thing is, you get comfortable with what you described and then sloppy-it-up, which was why you heard more notes - I got into more of a strum including those little changes. Thanks for hanging out Jeff!

This song reminds me of my high time back in my late teens, when I would listen this song i always dreamt of playing guitar and sing along, and I came across this video, though I learnt how to play guitar, and know all the chords invloved, but when I sing along guitar I get kind of lost then whole thing get so bad and song just become so hard to sing, I don't know how to improve my singing, thank you Ryan, it's D.
@RyanLendt4 жыл бұрын
well, this is kind of a hard one because you have to do the single note thing while you're singing and then switch to the chords. My only advice is to be patient and keep trying, and try some easier ones and then come back to this one too, that will help. Cheers D!

First of all, thank you so much for this tutorial. I was wondering if you could do the other part aswell? I don't know if Stone plays it or Mike, but there are some insanely good melodic licks in the background of this song, for example, if you'd play the song, go to part 3:14 and listen it until 3:25, the guitar in the background sounds amazing and literally no one on the internet has a lesson or tab for it. I'm even willing to donate, I just reaaally want to play that part

hey Ryen... another great song for the books... thanks for the video. on this one, it's not particulary hard, but I lost count so many times... is there any way for you to explain this song count by text? like, the F C G Am part is all half measure but 2 measures of Am, right? some songs I can follow just cause I've heard so many times, but on some others, the right hand movement is not a pattern that I'm familiar with... and than I get lost a lot. thanks again will try stone's solo just when I nail the full song. Intro is easier than I thougth.
@RyanLendt6 жыл бұрын
I mean, you got the F C G AM two beats each thing right - I think for this one (since it's not regular, just four beats each chord and the chords are kind of all interchangeable for the melody) you just gotta take this one slow and in segments... or print out the words yourself and place the chords above the words where they switch, that's a good ear exercise too :) I know exactly what you mean I keep trying to do a play along of this one and I just can't make it through the whole song without messing up. Not because it's hard, just because some of the sections are a little ambiguous and I get a bit lost without the song to play along with
@overratedprogrammer3 жыл бұрын

yes - the timing is more tied to the rhythm of the lyrics rather than a regular 4 count. Just listen to the melody and switch the chords with the words :)

I broke my arm in may and my nerves were permanently damaged so i have a really hard time with my pinky finger, i absolutely love this song but my fingers wont work so i cant play it :(
@RyanLendt3 жыл бұрын
i bet you could do it with your ring finger only - do pointer finger E1, ring finger A3, then smoosh your ring finger down to D3, then recruit your middling finger to grab the D2, which is where it belongs for the Am chord anyway - try that!
@mrjaffa10136 жыл бұрын
You know the solo part? It’s kind of 3 in bits right? Ive got the first two bits but I cant figure out what goes on for the next bit, at 4:10 to be exact. Hey Mr. Jaffa - nice to hear from you again :) ah yes, that is mike tinkling around back there... SO if you are playing the acoustic part you are being stone and not mike - but if you would like a rant video on Mike's off he goes contribution, I'd be happy to oblige
