Hi, Gent! Thanks for the video as always! The fun part of older BABYMETAL is that the band gets to be a bit more on the spotlight. I'll throw some hopefully accurate background on the band here before going to my suggestion... haha (Sorry in advance for the looooong text) The musicians playing with BABYMETAL are known as the "Kami Band" (Band of Gods, sort of). Through the years, some members became really consistent, to the point that they were kind of considered as part of BABYMETAL. The ones you see here are Hideki Aoyama (drums), BOH (bass), Leda Cygnus (guitar, first solo) and Takayoshi Ohmura (guitar, second solo). Besides from the West Kami Band, which are musicians from the US that played with them in their 2019 world tour, other consistent names in the Kami Band are Yuya Maeta (drums), ISAO (guitar) and, before sadly passing away, Mikio Fujioka (guitar). They all play on different projects besides BABYMETAL and one I enjoyed a lot is KARI BAND (something like provisional or temporary band in english). I'm guessing the name comes from twisting a bit the name "Kami Band" and it is a project started by Yuya Maeta (dr.), BOH (ba.) and Mikio Fujioka (gt.) where they sort of keep some of the heavy sound you get from BABYMETAL but they go a little bit more towards Jazz on their music. Despite Mikio's passing, they kept the band going and they play with some other guest musicians. They been doing some amazing stuff that you'd probably enjoy, so hope I you can check them out. Even if not for reactions on the channel, I think they're reaaaally worth listening. Little something before ending this, Mikio's probably a big influence on Takayoshi's guitar technique. His technique was ridiculous..!!! So, if you can go and check some of the random stuff of him around KZfaq, it'll blow your mind!! That's it, Gent! Sorry if this went too long haha Thanks again and see you next time!

When you said “backup band” about the Kami Band. I assure you, BabyMetal fans .... The One... love the Kami Band as much as they love BabyMetal. Whenever they listen to Starlight, the first thing they’ll say is “RIP Mikio”.. “Miss Mikio”. I have never seen, read, etc nothing but praise from the Kami Band members when they talk about the ladies of BabyMetal.

Theres a reason they called the Kami 's, god's in japanese 😀 BOH (bassist), in one of his video talk highly about the girl's and how they influence him as the musician. Its easy to tell thats the Kami's had a good time to play the role as a support band, furthermore you can find the antics between them and the girl's on the stage, its very enjoyable to watch

The synergy between the Kami Band and Babymetal is the whole secret. Neither would be as big a deal without the other. Consider that they sold out some big arenas in Europe, which Japanese bands hadn't been able to do. I'm pretty sure the Kami Band members know that we fully appreciate how good they are.

Thank you for this reaction. About BOHs playing, their is a KZfaq channel called: Terra Music Which has 2 short videos: Bassist BOH Bass Play Demonstration 1 and Bassist BOH Bass Play Demonstration 2. The first one has more of that tapping. About the stage Babymetal show, I remember a metal magazine journalist who said: "as much pyro as a Rammstein show". Which I don't think is true, but it's definitely a lot ! And they, I think, are definitely the metal band which spends most time on their stage show. About the size of Babymetal: Metallica plays stadium shows in a couple of countries, Babymetal plays arena shows and stadium in Japan (and they had 2 arena shows outside of Japan). Rammstein and Metallica get to perform as the last band (closer) at metal/rock/music mainstage of festivals. Babymetal has only played mainstage at festivals. About physical endurance, part of the reason they have these Kami band solo's and the Su-metal solo songs is because of endurance. The other 2 girls also have 4 songs they perform as a duo. During the Su-metal solo song they get a rest and during the duo songs Su-metal gets a rest. The longest Babymetal shows have been 1.5 hours, which also had short videos showing story line before some songs. A straight Babymetal show is 1 hour. And they hardly do solos anymore these days, the girls are old enough and trained enough they can do that whole show for 1 hour straight. They have no basically no break. Their is no talking between songs. And no encore. The mixing of styles and instruments/vocals/contrasts is one of Babymetal's best strengths. Babymetal music is actually very dangerous... their are many fans who say they list to Babymetal every day. Like some kind of addiction. They have a very high repeatability-rate (you can play them often without getting bored). PS Your description says: Road of Resistance.

An instant classic !. Do you know the Kari Band ?. It is a side project of Mikio Fujioka (RIP), Yuya Maeta and Boh. They play a very interesting mix of Jazz Rock fusion. After Mikio's death, the lead guitar is Satoshi Oka, his disciple. This year they have released an EP, Nimaime (traduction: Second Piece), a kind of tribute to Fujioka. Their best known song is Samurai Groove.

Ohmura (the one who played the second solo) is such an impressive guitarist. As you said, his picking hand technique is incredible. Sometimes you can hardly see his hand move at all. I think he uses just a little bit of wrist movement, while most of the movement comes from the finger joints. In addition to that he also has great phrasing and a great sense of tone and melody. I love watching him.

The “Mischiefs of Metal Gods" intro is a ritual performed by the gods of guitar, bass & drum to summon the Metal Queen Su-Metal. because in this song her human soul has been trapped in the recurring nightmare with no way to escape. the Kami Band in this show are : - Leda Cygnus (1st guitar solo) in the past usually play with 6 string, but now he's using 7 or 8 string. - Takayoshi Ohmura (2nd guitar solo) in this song he's using 7 string guitar named "Golden Moon". but, during the extra show "BM Metal Galaxy World Tour in Japan" in 2019, both him & Leda was using 9 string guitar (ESP E-II MF-9 BabyMetal). - B.O.H (6 string bass) - Hideki Aoyama (drum) his little brother (Yuki Aoyama) and father (Jun Aoyama) also a drummers. but, sadly both passed away. his father is consider as one's of the best drummer coming from Japan.

Nice reaction & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 Kamis' (=Gods') super plays were excellent enough as a main event in the show, but once the 16-year-old Queen emerged from the underground, she colored everything differently and turned Kamis' plays into a ritual to summon her. Kamis are all remarkable session musicians and they also paly in their own bands or other activities. The 3 girls once said like "We feel we have been protected all the time by Kami band" and Kamis said "The girls took us to stages in the world, outside of Japan. We have nothing but gratitude towards them". This is a very ideal relation between talented and attractive front performers and super supporting musicians, isn't it ?

Babymetal has 4 songs that Su does solo and also 4 songs with only Yui and Moa. Or they did before Yui left the group. But they still perform them. Moa does them alone now. They are great too. My favorite is 'Onedari Daisakusen'. It's in the style of Limp Bizkit but they make it super cute. It's the cutest Babymetal song. It was ridiculously cute when Moa and Yui were 13 or 14.

Most fans thought we'd never see it again but they performed it at Budokan just recently as part of their 10 year anniversary 10 concerts at Budokan. The other song that was a throwback was 'Doki Doki Morning' which was their very first song and hadn't been performed since 2017.

⚡ / 🔥 😱 🔥 Not sure which required more courage from Su. Dancing on a small raised platform in the dark with no net or railing, or following that Kami Band showcase with a solo. Little known fact: They had to rebuild Budokan overnight, because she burned it down when she premiered this song the previous night. : ) And… that's why we made her our Queen at sixteen years old. Her voice has only gotten better since that March 2014 concert. Su performed three solos that night. She did 'No Rain, No Rainbow', followed by 'Akatsuki' earlier in the set. That Black Night Budokan concert is still one of my favorite shows of all time. This performance is my standard answer to anyone who says that BABYMETAL aren't really metal. : ) They just finished playing their 10th out of 10 new Budokan concerts on April 15th, 2021. There will be a paid online stream in June with footage from those ten shows.

I was already hooked on Babymetal by the time I got to this song, but this is the one where I really noticed the Kamiband and started looking into them more. I'm going to go with a less common recommendation because it also has a Kamiband intro, with Mikio Fujioka this time, and probably the best breakdown this side of Megitsune. Ok, now a few facts: - one of these 2 guitaristrs, Ohmura, said that the singer (SU) must be a genius, because in this song the music and the singing are following 2 different Tempo's, and that's extremely difficult to do for a singer! - at 8:13 when the music stops and Su sings on a different way, there is a Singer reactor that said that she is doing that Live, using a technique called Nasal Resonance by pressing the mic on the nose and singing at the base of the Mic (if I recall correctly, i'm no expert :D ). On another reaction I heard a sound engineer saying that that part was surely on a backtrack... Even among fans there is no one who can be certain about it :D - Su has 4 solo songs (Rondo of Nightmare, Amore, Akatsuki, No Rain No Rainbow) while the other 2 girls Yui and Moa have 4 BlackBabymetal duo songs (song 4/4no uta, GJ, Onedari Daisakusen, Sis Anger). They used to do so in longer shows everyone could have a rest! After Yui left the band in 2018 they haven't been doing a lot of those anymore.

It seems that the Japanese bands do a lot more bass tapping than Western bands. Between the Kami Band, LOVEBITES, and BAND-MAID, I’ve seen more bass tapping in the last six months than I have in the last ten years. I don’t know if you know this about Babymetal, but back when Yui was still around, Su had a few solo songs so Yui and Moa could take a break and Yui and Moa had duo songs so Su could take a break. Yui and Moa together was known as Black Babymetal. Some of Babymetal’s heavier songs are Black Babymetal songs, most notably “Sis Anger.”

They take a more fun approach to bass for sure. Low key band that not a lot of people know about is stoic high school, watch any of their videos. The bass player is out of world. Can't forget about Koga too

Late to the comments, everyone else has said in even greater detail what I was going to say. Over the course of a larger arena show there would have been a solid high energy 100 minutes or more. They would pace the show with a Kami Band showpiece or two to give the girls a rest - a Su sol would have given Yui and Moa a breather and a solo spot for Yui or Moa, or their duet known as Black Babymetal, would have given Su a break

While you have indeed managed to pick some of the biggest fan favorites to react to, those few songs are only the tip of the ice berg. There is so much more to discover. And now that you've listened to some songs from their first two albums, perhaps it's time to revisit the third? If I understand correctly, the only song you've heard is "Pa Pa Ya"? Why not try "BxMxC", which is quite different, or maybe "Starlight", which is probably my personal favorite? Then we can return to the classics, like "Headbanger" and "Babymetal Death", which you will absolutely love.

The Kami Band are some of the finest musicians Japan has to offer and compliment Babymetal well. Do not use the term backup band cos The Kami Band is The Kami Band. They are much loved by Babymetal fans as much as the Babymetal girls. Babymetal and The Kami Band are a whole unit. Alice in wonderland with darker theme. You cannot categories Babymetal into a specific genre of metal because they have everything in their discography. Great reaction. Kitsune Up 🦊🦊🦊🤘

Yui and Moa were taking a break. They might have been energetic-mid-to-late-teen-professional-dancers, but they are humans too. Both of them had duo songs, in order to give Su a break too. The song is about Su having a nightmare. She's been chased and cant lose whatever is chasing her. When she finally gets caught (the "lullaby" part at the end), she asks to at least see its face, since she's going to die anyways. 🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻
