Finally released my alternate picking speed course!
When it comes to building speed, most teachers will tell you to practice ‘slow and accurate’. I used to practice that way as well when I first started, but I eventually got stuck. I plateaued, and no matter how much I practiced (and trust me, I practiced A LOT), my speed always stayed the same.
A few years ago, while I was recording a solo, I realized I can play WAY faster in short bursts of notes, and discovered a way to use this technique in a practice routine to drastically increase my speed, and tighten up my playing. I realized that practicing ‘slow and accurate’ was holding me back and if I strategically pushed myself beyond my normal tempo, I could quickly build my speed in a short amount of time.
Over the years I tired this practice routine with some of my students, and all of them saw amazing results. That’s why I decided to put this information into my newest course:
Guitar Speed Builder!
It’s the biggest course I’ve ever released, and I’ve included everything you need to know to help you increase your speed and clean up your playing.
Check it out here and get $30 off for the premiere of the course:

Honestly, you should be in Jared Dines Shred Collab. Imagine the love you shall get. Using the tone you use in your pop solos, it sould be a more unique entry, and the unique entries are usually the most talked about.

Hey Roy, another great course thanks! Some of the licks are rhythmically unusual in places, which makes them tricky to work on with a metronome. For example, in lick 2, you have a triplet where the middle note falls on the beat! How do you count through that with a metronome at say 80 bmp?

Hi would it be better if i get this course first before i try the hexatonic lesson??? Thank you
@RoyZivMusic
@RoyZivMusic 3 жыл бұрын
It depends what you're looking for. This course is just about technique, how to practice and how to get a lot faster. There are a few licks as well, but it's not really about 'musicality'. The Hexatonic Masterclass is all about musicality, how to cover the entire fretboard, how to come up with cool licks and ideas, how to solo, how to put everythign together, etc. Lots of licks, as well as a full solo at the end. Lots of exercises to really show you how to use the hexaotnic scale to expand your fretboard knowledge. So it depends if you want technique, or musicality stuff. If you're stuck playing the same stuff over and over and want a new 'sound' then Hexatonic scale would be better. but if you just want to get faster, then Guitar Speed Builder would be better.

Thanks roy. I thought about it and really wanted the hexatonic coz it sounds cool but i realized i needed polishing with technique and speed so i went with this course. Just a suggestion i think it would help if there was a daily practice routine schedule identifying the exercises and number repititions and rest days, sort of what you get from exercise videos. Just saying. Thanks for this course! Im gonna get started tomorrow

Hey Roy, how do you get the strings on your guitar so close to the fretboard ? It looks like the strings are literally laying on the neck, I've seen this kind of thing before, I just don't know how it's done.
@toothpicksamurai1251
@toothpicksamurai1251 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Dennis, random internet person here. I think you're talking about the action on a guitar. Depending on the type of bridge on your guitar, you could adjust the action (lower or raise the strings from the fretboard) on the bridge. If you have the little screws on the bridge (near where the strings lay on top), then you can adjust it by using an allen wrench (hex key). This usually comes on standard strats and so forth. If you have a Gibson style bridge (the giant on with two flathead screws on each side), then adjust it with a flathead. Just make sure to heighten or lower in small increments to avoid fret buzz. Hope that helps!
