Great video, the effect you were referring to when the guitar's become background I believe is an eq filter sweep.

turn up your vocals if you want views - it's nearly impossible to hear anything you're saying if you're listening on actual speakers with full range (bass, mid, treble etc - the music completely overpowers you.)
