2 questions for you: I've always wondered about the extra 5 way selector switch you have on your green guitar. Can you explain? Also, would it be possible to buy the tabs/backing track for "Hermit's Night Out"? Thanks!!

1. I would love to see some ideas for staying motivated and following through with finishing projects you start. It seems I'm always chasing after something else once the "sparkle" wears off of a new project. 2. Also, I'd love to know your approach to visualizing the fretboard. I'm in the middle of studying so many methods that I don't know what to stick with-CAGED, Intervals, 3 notes per string, Arpeggios, etc. 3. Lastly, with all that gear, how do you even know where to begin with a new idea or creative project?

my dude..love the fact that you have managed to fuse what used to be with the now as far as how to process your signal..the mixers and buses etc is exactly how we did it in the 80's and you just cant recreate that kind of organic warmth unless you do it this way..or atleast to my ears..there are units out now that come close..but just not the same..and the tape deck technique i have not seen in so many years..brings back some great memories and wish i had some pictures of some of my racks from the past to share with you...love what you got going on and nothing but the utmost respect to you. and hurray for springtime as well, i live here in alaska and we are the same global parallel my friend and i know how long winters can be and see that you have plenty to keep you busy during the cold months...looks cozy in there...be well and thanks for sharing and being so dam inspirational!!!

Mika - I don't have questions about your set up (I'm not myself a muso, or that technically minded) but I just wanted to congratulate you on Mountain Tone 2 which I think is a brilliant piece of work - a great meld of various moods and harmonies but continuing the theme of emotion, midori mystery - thought you'd like that - but brilliant technique which characterises all of your work. Thanks and can't wait for the next one :-)

Really interested to see a video explaining how your studio setup got started and ended up so complicated. I'm guessing that you continually add more specialized gear to solve problems and limitations you discover as you try to push the boundaries but I'd love to hear that story!
@MikaFastfinger
@MikaFastfinger 3 жыл бұрын
Maybe complex but the idea is not to have anything complicated here 😂 I want my studio to be a place where a musical idea can be captured as effortlessly and quick as possible. Riff comes along, i want to be starting the whole song and put it together immediately while it’s there and fresh. Or if i want a certain sound or effect, i just hook a couple of patches and it’s happening!
@danpusceddu
@danpusceddu 3 жыл бұрын
@@MikaFastfinger I understand. To you, it doesn't seem complicated because you built it up over time and you know how to use it all! At home I have a guitar, and an amp, and a computer - so I would be bewildered with all the choices of what to use and when to use it that you are demoing here.

Very interesting and entertaining Mika, thanks! I have one question: I'm thinking about getting the Torpedo CAB to replace Tubemeister Deluxe 20 integrated Red Box IRs... it is worth? Do not know if sound quality improvement is huge or not.
@MikaFastfinger
@MikaFastfinger 4 жыл бұрын
Redbox doesn’t have IRs. it all analog filtering it wont be as precise. With IRs you have endless possibilities to load IRs and those will take the tone way much closer to the actual thing. The CAB M has also Poweramp simulationwhich can seriously shape your tone as well. CAB M basic presets were not mostly super exciting but i found a cab or two that really took things further. Little bit of tweaks and i had my ”Panama” - tone that made me very happy!

What do you think about TC Electronics G system ? Do you still use it ?
@MikaFastfinger
@MikaFastfinger 4 жыл бұрын
sold mine. haven’t used it for years. it’s got great effects but some issues: it sucked a lot of tone. i’ve heard that the red limited editon version fixed the input problem. But the ad da before preamp and another ad da converter in the effects loop is no good. Especially before pre-amp i don’t want any digital conversion. My current pedalboard goes all the way analog with the dry signal. The first digital part is the two note cab m. cabinet simulation. The a high quality cabling and analog signal flow made world difference in tone quality. also ad/da converters always add more some latency. G-system is not for me (anymore) but TC Electronic does a lot of wonderful stuff!
