Here's Xeno Müller II performing "Tango en Skai" by Roland Dyens on a 2021 Masaki Sakurai “Special” classical guitar made with spruce for the soundboard and African rosewood for the back and sides. Recorded at the Guitar Salon International showroom in Santa Monica, CA.

The beauty of musical genres like Tango is that you are able to put your accent in the piece without losing the beauty of the original text.

Some stodgy members of the audience here in the comments...I'm fascinated that classical guitar attracts such rigid thinking about how things "should" be done or how someone "should" look when they are performing. I think it sounded great, well done Xeno on all your hard work - it's always great to see someone enjoying what they do so much. Music is surely about interpretation, otherwise it's just bloody boring. Well done GSI again on producing such great content so consistently.

Hi Chris, Awesome. I love your use of “bloody” 😂 My greatest rowing coaches were from NZ and AUS and the word “bloody” became part of my English vocabulary ever since.

I love this. I've heard plenty of renditions but I love his style, all the contrasts he brings. And I don't get why people are hating on his facial expressions. I think they add to the performance. (And if you don't like them, just turn your screen off!)

Xeno II, I really love this piece and how you let loose on it. Letting loose is very important. The world of classical guitar is likely bigger than the world of rowing, yet in both worlds we have lots of nay sayers. Bring more of it!

I am here playing my cheaper Esteve guitar thinking it's sounding pretty good... Then I hear this amazing brand new guitar, the snap in the chord changes is insane... How much is the guitar? Of course the guitarist is also amazing as well bravo

No le veo problema es sus expresiones por el contrario, a mi me indica que esta más que vivo y que siente cada nota que toca y lo transmite. Me gusta así más que impávido y sin ni un movimiento como máquinas. Felicidades

I think it is a great rendition, my only real issue is I feel he over-uses the rasgueado a bit which takes away from the impact of the one's that are already written into the piece.

Yes, actually if you see the original score, you can notice a lot of changes. It sounds very different from the original, there are some parts where I can't discern if it is a change on purpose or simply a mistake. I agree that he is doing a lot of ornaments, and the original ones aren't very clear (Might be the audio from the video). Also (in my opinion) the rythm isn't very clear. Maybe I'm not used to this version. But objectively he is very good, most of the piece sounds good. Sorry for bad english, I had to use the translator.

Well he understands the point of this music, the fun and passion behind it. So many play this with technical focus. The timing is subjective! : LOTS of rubato required! He is brilliant. That guitar ain't special. It's a cannon!!! Must be renamed kinda "Sakurai's cannon" rather than a poor and dull "special". I'm impressed... no, this one is a lie..Truth is I'M OVERWHELMED....
