This video is literally one of the best things a beginner guitarist can learn to take their playing to an intermediate level.

If I had a lesson like this as a much younger player, I'd have better been able to appreciate Hendrix and even Bluegrass.

Yeah but it takes intermediate level to really understand the value of it.
@ericastier1646

@@hetkapatel5111 Absolutely, a beginner would have no clue what he is talking about. It's only after you're sweated and wandered and experienced musically for years (more like a decade) that then what he says becomes crystal clear. Looking back if i had heard this interview lesson twenty years ago i would not have appreciated the meaning of it. But now it's like yep makes absolute sense. Music is such an elusive art, a beginner does not even know what he is trying to accomplish or getting into.
@markmiller6423

One of the best things about this is the interviewer isn’t monopolizing the conversation, he’s letting Joe talk. As a beginner, I’m watching everything, how he’s holding the pick, his finger positioning on the fret board. It’s intimidating because I thought, these videos are for more advanced players and not for beginners/intermediate like me but joe explains things in such a way, that it’s easy for any player regardless of level to follow and understand.

Go back and watch the video again and pay no attention to the content of his words. Erase the guitar from the video frame. Listen to him talk. Listen to the comfort of his voice. Listen to his phrasing. Listen to the confidence and ease. There is nothing jerky. There is no awkwardness. There is no apologizing or surprise emotions. It is smooth and his own. The guitar is a piece of wood. Nothing else. You allow it to speak. It will speak just like you and your mood. Next time you play guitar forget about the music. Be the most relaxed and confident person you can be. No mistakes come from you. What ever happens is intentional. This is one of the best guitar lessons you will ever have.

To Mr. Satriani thank you for your time your selflessness and you’re willingness to share freely your outstanding talent but more importantly the information that you’re providing us about learning how to play the guitar I saw this years ago and I thought to myself maybe not this particular video but look at this Joe Satriani is the only person out there giving free guitar lessons online he is extremely unselfish not to mention one of the absolute greatest guitar players alive who does not get the credit he deserves of course commercially we know all about that it’s all about politics here’s another man who’s put hours and hours and hours into his Craftsmanship and is willing to share it with everyone that part is still I can’t even comprehend because I’m probably that selfish with my time these videos I should’ve watched years ago I’m not sure how much any of these were available is this particular series although I knew I was not ready for them having kids raising them making sure they got the school etc. playing through below standards equipment can definitely be a deterrent in your inspiration or willingness to chase your dream and work for it equipment is important but so is knowledge and this man is free Sharing his knowledge with the world for nothing you just have to sit down and take the time and focus and listen to what he’s going to say and then try to just practice what he’s asking you to practice he’s even showing us the short route OK you can make a great song out of two notes the Clapton song for us as matter fact I’ve been trying to buy a satriani rig used from someplace out of San Rafael that won’t answer your eBay account I know he bought it to reproduce the Montrose sound he was hired to reproduce by Sammy Hagar when they were doing all the old Montrose with chicken foot and everything else connected with Montrose it self what a humble individual I’ve also read articles about him saying he just cannot him see him self playing Richie Blackmore‘s part from Deep Purple and he could do it but I understood we were trying to say the whole idea of trying to be Richie Blackmore once again his humility shines through wow what an outstanding individual the war learn about this guy I am just floored maybe that’s what it takes remove Ego from self to become that what you desire to become Boy I hope I get a chance to go see this guy one day live I’m sure it will be a phenomenal experience thanks for your help for those of us I’m speaking for me now that beat our heads against the wall trying to learn how to play this instrument thank you for your time have a wonderful day keep rocking

Yes, although it may sound a bit different since in A minor the notes revolve around A and in C they revolve around C. But if you learn one of the relative minor or major, you'll have an easier time getting it in your head than the one where you had no frame of reference
