As someone who grew up playing piano and now play the guitar and ukulele, I agree vocals significantly accentuate a tune. Even when I play around on the guitar or ukulele, humming or whistling or singing random words makes a world of difference!

I'm not really into KOL but I found this quite interesting, just because its not shredding guitar solos or anything technical doesn't mean its boring? You can tell most people who disliked this video obviously don't widen there musical taste.

I play a lot of metal, hard rock, etc but I do prefer a variety in genres of music for the video lessons. Great for expanding your guitar vocabulary.

@DreadMasterXX Kings of Leon are not pop, they are alternative rock. Pop is processed, bubblegum shit that is written by wealthy corporations who hire up-and-coming "musicians" to sing their fabricated crap. They market to young children who have no comprehension of what ACTUAL music is. Kings of Leon, on the other hand, is responsible for the creation of all their beautiful works, and has a well-developed fan base because of it. It's fine with me if you dislike them, but don't be ignorant.

It covers the chord shape that replicates the root, just a habit and looks better I guess. I think he might strum the whole chord shape in the chorus

@SpearmintSixString also not a fan, But I can appreciate them, I don't take a lot of my time to appreciate bands like this because in the end I never have found too much to appreciate, also if you think metal is just sweep arpeggios and distortion, let me tell you're as close minded as those 12 year old metal addicts, I seriously doubt you have a clue of what metal is.

KOL is amazing live, often even better than their studio versions. But by your logic, if this band would've emerged out of the 60's/70's, thus being a what you call a ''original'' band, you would think of this as one of the greats too? Your logic seems shallow.

@theillmc I think it's safe to say that pop music (= KoL) isn't the most technical genre in the world. I'm surprised to see a pop band do a lesson on GW, normally it's rock/metal. I reckon a lot of people watch this kind of thing as an interview, to see/hear their favorite band talk about music. That being said, I'm not a fan of KoL at all and this video definitely hasn't changed that.
