Back then I always thought Negra simply means black and nothing more.... During summer we always spend a lot of time in the beach so my grandparents when they see us having darker skin color would always say Its ok if u become negra as long as you had so much fun. To my understanding its just color its nothing malicious or derogatory... Lately a lot of black americans are complaining about people calling them negro/negra because it means racist and it surprise me... I love mommy kuqui for being open minded... Here in the Philippines it's in our traditions that we always offer and prepare foods or drinks(juice,coffee or softdrink) to anyone who wants to visit in our house mostly if that person is connected with us like special friends,relatives or families..If Mami Chiqui did'nt prapare foods or drinks to Kuya Rowel everytime he visits her probably it's not a big deal to her b'coz it might be in their culture that it was just like an ordinary and simple day that kind of thing..
