That's the reason why Gumball and Darwin needed to revert back into their Season 1 selves with the writers getting rid of their selfish, teen-like and impulsive characterizations.

i really didn't like how gumball became an ego jerk on later seasons. he was meant to be optimist and helpful but then slowly becoming a bit cartman

They were very different in Season 1. Gumball was more well-meaning, optimistic, joyful and selfless. Darwin was more happy, humble and would always join in on his brothers antics no matter how crazy they are. Now since Season 2, they’ve changed. Gumball is now egotistical, self-centred, cynical and a bit sarcastic. Darwin is now too violent and always get angry. However, some of their flanderization is character development. Later on, they seem to be more smarter and given distinctive traits. Gumball being a bit more logical and Darwin being the voice of reason who would try to stop Gumball from being reckless.

I always hated that Gumball becomes a really cynical selfish jerk from Season 2 onwards 😤😠😡🤬👎👊🥊🔥. I miss so much his former personality back in Season 1 😭😭😭. Despite him being somewhat dumb and näive in this season, at least he was much cuter, innocent, adorable, selfless, and generous and always wanted to help others 😇😇😇.

@@Du-yw1pz Besides, Gumball and Darwin started to fight and argue a lot from Season 2 onwards. They were much more healthier best friends back in Season 1.

Well duh the writers wanted them to progress as real kids When your young your innocent and naive like they were in sn 1 As you get older you start getting more moody Cuz of puberty (you can say them doing crazy sh!t was them finding out who they were) AND as times pass you mature and lead to be more sesible(sn3 onwards)

My HeadCanon on this is that Gumball and Darwin were dumb because they were young, in the next few seasons they got a little smarter because they grew up, Gumball and Darwin were 12 and 10, from season 4 to 6 they must be 14 and 12 years.

I think you’re right @erossauro2427 Gumball and Darwin are revealed to be in 7th grade in season 2 (The Lesson) and 8th grade is season 5 (The Grades) so it is apparent that there ages progressed

I agreed 👍. They were so much happier and healthier best friends 😀😃😄😁❤️. Now from Season 2 onwards, they become more short-tempered and very toxic best friends 😞😟😢😭💔.

Despite Gumball and Darwin being somewhat dumb, stupid, and näive back in Season 1, at least they at the same time are also much cuter, adorable, and innocent 😇😇😇. Gumball was much less arrogant and cocky and much cuter, innocent, adorable, happy, joyful, cheerful, optimistic, selfless, and generous and Darwin also was much cuter, innocent, adorable, kind, sweet, and lovable 😇😇😇❤️❤️❤️. Sadly, they got flanderized from Season 2 onwards 😞😢😭😤😠😡🤬👎👊🥊🔥. Gumball become much more arrogant and cocky and a huge cynical, egotistical, selfish, self-centered, and sarcastic JERK 😤😠😡🤬👎👊🥊🔥!!! Darwin also become much angrier and violent 😞😢😭💔. They were so much better back in Season 1 (especially with their former designs in this season, with their thinner black outlines and their oval eyes 😇😇😇❤️❤️❤️).
