Hello, I'm Nancy, a watercolour painter based in Melbourne. Since the end of 2019, I started to paint some flowers and plant, and I had been very drawn to it. For some reason, I found it is very therapeutic. Perhaps because it is a slow process and involves lots of observation and detail, it made my mind calm and peaceful. Especially during the lockdown last year, when I felt everything was so uncertain, painting these plants and flowers really gave me some stability and strength in mind.
Therefore I wish I can share my way of painting with you, and hope you can find the same peacefulness in mind as I do.
In this video, I will demonstrate how to paint a gum tree flower. I will explain how I design it, and using some basic watercolour techniques, wet on wet, lifting and glazing.
