@@noahlaizer7434unfortunately, it seems that they have master codes for the analog dial safes as well. From pretty much every manufacturer I can find. I’m going to do some more research and find out if it’s something that can be done away with. I don’t know a lot about locks.

ALL electronic safes have a backup/master code saved in a database. I'd venture to say that all analog safes do as well, BUT they would have to be linked to the serial number or manufacturer number. If you paid with cash and that serial number were to mysteriously dissappear, not a whole lot they can do except call a locksmith

Say that when you get to a year and they keypad completely goes out. Mine just went out 2 days ago, had it for a bit over a year. Tried replacing the battery, the hard reset people suggest, nah. Nothing worked. 4 of the buttons just straight up don't recognize input anymore and it just starts long beeping eventually at 10 second intervals. Gonna have to try and see if warranty will still cover it or fork it over myself. Now it's just a key opening safe I guess 🤷‍♂️ and yes it's a ts36-45

Do you know what the fire rating is for it?

@@DeathmetalPersianexactly. These security containers (none of these gun safes are actually safes) are great for keeping kids and petty thieves away but that’s about it. That’s a fine purpose too by the way, but you don’t buy a safe like this for fire or theft protection. These can be opened in under 2 min with a pry bar and will absolutely melt in a fire. A real safe with real fire (ceramic wool) and theft protection will run 5 grand or more for one of a decent size. Sturdy safe comes to mind as a great brand. There’s a reason gun “safes” run from $500 to 20k or more. What you’re getting for 10k from a reputable brand serves a completely different purpose from a $500 safe you buy at Costco.

A Minimum 30” wide, 10 gauge body, 3/8” plate steel door with a 90 minute @ 1650 degree fire rating is going to run around $4,000. Anything less is a fire retardant storage locker to keep the kids out.

Even keyed safes are not safe, as the company keeps a log based om serial numbers. Warrant issued to company and company puts in a blank key types in info and out comes a replica key ready to open your safe. Worse case it a FBI locksmith that is devoted strictly to safe cracking.

Just replace the digital lock after you purchase it it doesn’t cost that much then nobody has your combo

Required drilling the door for the dial spindle and metal fabrication work for the bolt work inside the door. If you're in the market for a safe, best bet is to buy a dial safe outright or do some extra homework and see if the safe you have in mind can be easily swapped - usually if both lock options are offered on a given safe the swap is easiest.

Yes. I have this safe, if the batteries die you simply pull the keypad off and there is a keyhole where you can access it with a set of 2 physical keys.

Most likely not, unless there’s specific EMP protection for the circuitry. And it’s not even like the safe would just pop open either, I presume it’d be stuck in the locked position with no way to unlock (ever).

It really doesn't matter if the ATF wants in your safe they're going to get in if they have to use a locksmith/cut it open.

That safe is pure junk. It’s filled with Sheetrock or gypsum board. 700 degrees and that garbage will melt. No, it’s not fireproof.

That’s a decent price for even this lower quality “safe”. I’ve priced used five drawer locking file cabinets that run that much. A lot of folks need to ‘chill’ about the ultimate security of a safe - all a safe is going to do is buy you time, whether that’s against thieves or a house fire. Generally, the more it costs, the more time you’re buying yourself. It should go without saying a $6,000 safe is going to buy you more time than a $600 safe! Duh(!). And everyone’s sense of “value” and what they can afford and/or what they’re willing to afford to perform a certain job is different. My underlying assumption is, most folks are doing the best they can; whether they’re spending $400 on a safe or $4,000. The old adage has probably never been truer than when it comes to safes: “you get what you pay for”. Some folks’ home budget allows them to pay more and some don’t. 💁🏻‍♂️

Most safes aren’t fire resistant enough, that’s pretty clear. Safe positioning is important too, close to window on exterior wall if possible so that you can get water to it fast! The average person can’t afford a $10,000 safe, but these are better than nothing

They meet the rating at the temp they say. It only works if you can control the heat😂. I almost bought one but I am a research nut because I cannot waist my pennies on subpar stuff. These are not safes. I was a whole hearted believer until I stepped into a safe store. These things are good gun cabinets provided you bolt it to the floor. Otherwise dont waist your money. The man in the store said to measure my tallest gun. He’s selling me a used commercial safe. A REAL safe that can sustain fire. And please put a sock on all your guns. If your guns don’t get burned the smoke will still destroy your firearms. Buy a safe from a safe store. I still might get this giant locker. It has its purpose.

Most thieves are far from professional and a "professional thief" could break in to most safes. It's a lot harder to break into a safe than it is to break into a home and take valuables that are just lying around.
