Cheers for the honest review. Like you say, cool idea, but I've never found using collars an issue and they always sit flush with no play, so separate collars for the win for me.

The bent bar is a bummer especially because it was from typical use and at the price point I expect more from it. $700 is still a lot and it's still competing with higher end rogue WL, uesaka, or elieko bars at that price point but a little sad they didn't throw in bearings.. Personally I would go with a stainless on stainless rogue weightlifting bar at the same price or get the chrome sleeves and buy the elieko open collars and still be at $700 preship and tax.... Uesaka (when they appear) or elieko bars (available consistently) used by me typically around $500 asking on the marketplace and that seems a lot more attractive then this bar to be honest...

I'm sorry, your said the collars move in drops?
@AMRAP Жыл бұрын
Yes, they don’t stay when you drop the bar repeatedly

@@AMRAP Wow, that's a pretty big claim. Did you let Gungnir know about this when you got the bar replaced? There have been so many drop tests of this bar but I think this is the first I've heard of a moving collar. Might make a good new video.

@@DavidLee-cw6ci it’s not a claim, it’s a fact. They sent me a new bar after I bent this one but no, I didn’t tell them about the collars.

Since hearing about about this bar, I’ve always thought of the “slide lock” as a gimmick. Looks like the locking feature is not as good as their advertisement. Kinda odd that they went with 28mm shaft for a multi purpose bar. Is the bar actually made entirely in Norway?
@AMRAP2 жыл бұрын
To be fair, they always do static tests/slow lifts which it does do well with. I’m not sure about 100% made in Norway because everyone’s “made in” laws are different.

@@AMRAP well that 699 is near the Eleiko performance training bar price. And Eleiko is 100% Sweden made plus the 50yrs of bar making experience. Willing to bet that most of that 699 price is due to the special plate locking system that still doesn’t lock the plates in lol. I’d be interested to see if the locking design effects the build of the sleeve and shaft.

Norwegian here, it might very well be, we have a company called Gym2000 making bars since sometime in the eighties, and they are pretty good. However Ive heard it said the "main" shaft is made in Sweden.

@@jamestonbellajo I just don't like ribbed sleeves. I get why people would like it, I just think my $10 collars are quicker and easier to apply. DO you like this design?
@jamestonbellajo2 жыл бұрын
@@NoFate247 I think the design is cool but not worth the extra money. I don’t think this bar is any better than an Ohio Bar from Rogue which you can realistically get for half the price or less from the Boneyard.
