The production quality and acting of those old shows goes far beyond the garbage today presented as " popular TV series" and let me include movies of today.
@scottmcman7659
@scottmcman7659 5 жыл бұрын
@@rickdaystar477- Today it's far more important to look like a model and be sexy. Yes, the quality is horrible today, but it doesn't matter because young people have nothing to compare it to. And that's because it's all but impossible to get them to sit thru something that wasn't made yesterday. My daughter will say (she's 10): "Daddy, that's old fashioned" and she's not referring to the story, or the quality of the characters. Again, it's all about how they look and dress. This means, she's not going to watch it. I am trying to slowly get her acclimated to older stuff and I think once she's a couple years older, she'll get it. She's a good girl, but she has this shallow, how you look is most important Hollywood "image" constantly thrown at her everyday, so I fight to keep her grounded. Even worse, she has the looks that are going to get her a lot of attention as a teenager and again, even girls her age on TV and movies are made to appear 2 or 3 yrs older. Entertainment media sexualizes kids in subtle ways. In fact, they have people who's job it is to gain subconscious power over the viewer and plant messages and ideas. That's not my opinion, it's fact. This is done in every facet of our lives from entertainment all the way down to the way clubs are laid out to induce a psychological effect. Facebook and other platforms use very sophisticated tactics to plant ideas and messages into our subconscious. This puts children at an extreme disadvantage. My wife and I have not given our daughter a phone. We feel she's too young, yet parents are giving kids phones as young as 5 or 6 and then they wonder why they are acting like moody 15 yr olds at 7. Sorry, I went a little sideways with the subject and should have broken it up into paragraphs, but it's early. The point is, not only is today's entertainment media bad, but those in charge don't really care because they focus on the outer image and create these perfect looking androids that look like 17 yr old models and have sex coming out of every pore. I don't want to get preachy, but I also see that the content is moving further and further away from God in favor of witches being cool and ghost hunting, casting spells, etc...The kids cartoons are riddled with these themes where they make the evil character into your buddy. "Oh, it's harmless!" No, it's not harmless. Kids are like vacuums. They suck this stuff in and once the associated toys are out, they do the same things they see on the cartoons. Give me the old time stuff and other than *some shows* on AP, H, DA and Disc, you can throw the rest in the dumpster. Thanks to those who got thru this redundant rambling of mine. Have a great weekend and God Bless!

I didn't know Jim Arness liked to fly. I come from a flying family (as you probably can tell from my logo). His widow is a very sweet, demure lady. I hope you have more interviews like these. It may be my nostalgia kicking in, but I truly believe performers and artists of the western genre (1920s - 1960s) were fine people in real life, and typically a cut above the usual Hollywood fare.

Jim Arness was a true American Hero. Was a corporal in the Army, WWII, got wounded in the leg and had several surgeries afterward for his leg. His brother was Peter Graves from the tv show Mission Impossible

That's a mark of character few possess, my dad did that, he also returned shopping carts that had been left in the parking lot on his way in. I read that Southwest Airlines job interviewers would leave a piece of scrap paper on the floor as a test to see if the applicant would pick it up or leave it. .

A recent episode of Antiques Road show had a segment evaluation of an art piece done by an African American artist. The piece was valuable. As an aside the owner related that Mr Arness helped support this artist during rough times. He never made a big deal out of it. It's so admirable the depth of talent, interests, decency and generosity that Jim Arness exemplified. He's right up there with John Wayne in my book!

Thank you so much for all these videos on the great stars of American TV. They make us all feel great. I am an Australian and my mother and I used to watch all the Westerns we could. Or at least I did whenever I could. In the last few months I have discovered Church Militant, Remnant TV and Taylor Marshall on my new iPhone and am so grateful to you in America for keeping my Faith in God alive and well. Special thanks to Fr C Ripperger and Bishop Fulton J Sheen (dec’d) for their Sessions on the Catholic Church. I had good parents who had all four of us children baptised Catholics. May the Faith of our fathers in the one true God, Father,Son and Holy Spirit and the blessing of Almighty God come down upon us and remain with us forever. Amen
