You can pull down building parts by looking at them and pressing 'Y'. You'll get all the parts back in your inventory. Handy if you misplace a wall etc. So glad you're doing a series on Icarus 👍

Caves are where its at. They are behind rock walls that look different, like a cave should be there. There is also an underwater cave in the lake. Be careful in the caves though cause there are ranged alien enemy stalks that are like turrets kinda. You also get pneumonia if you spend too much time in there without the right protection. The entrance of a cave is a based building spot however. If you can find that line where you are covered but not at risk of pneumonia, its a great place to build a base that the storm won't destroy. Once you unlock the dehumidifier you can expand back into the cave a bit. Great protection from weather and fauna.

I have been playing Icarus in the run down missions and love how it has progressed since the launch of it! I 100% recommend it to anyone who likes the survival grind games and even better with friends. I think the crafting and weather events make the game all the better.

Whenever you get to the upgrade point to create stone structures it'll save you the time to repair since stone structures can mostly be damaged from severe weathers and immunity to thunderstorms (yes you can get struck by lightning)

Few tips , for fast leveling kill animals as much as possible and gut em / collect bones , predators give specially good exp vs herbivores. Later on you can unlock mission board that gives random missions which are good exp. Avoid snow areas before you get more better armor for it (you will die there otherwise). Caves behind rockwalls (check maps for more info) has metals which you will need later on to craft iron gear etc. Please do more icarus gameplay , good change for all 7DTD content. Oh and when putting camp fire inside house (you will need for sleeping) take care to not put it near any containers etc or your house will burn down 🤣

I’m so glad I found one of my go to gamer KZfaqrs I watch playing this game, it’s one of my absolute favourites! Also as soon as you were like ‘it’s a horse thing’ I was like NO ITS A WAR DONKEY RUN😂 (and whenever you find the weird emu ostrich things - I refer to them as murder chickens because they’re the freaking worst unless you tame them lmao)

First! Think KNIFE. Stab and dodge, rinse repeat. The knife is borderline OP for defense. Make 2 and keep'em repaired. Second! Harvest nodes to completion and stop letting your wood despawn. Chop it gather it and STACK it. Third! Thatch is the worst material and very susceptible to damage. Get to wood then STONE asap. Last! Keep up the great content.

This game is giving me crazy Ark: Survival Evolved vibes. Especially with the tech tree and building.

really fun to see you try this out :) surviving the early game is definitely the hardest part. since the progression is player based more so than world based, it takes awhile to level up enough to really get things going. For food, highly recommend the drying rack as you can get a lot of unique buffs from there. Eventually you can also unlock rain collection, allowing you to collect clean water. As far as leveling up, the fastest way is by fighting things, especially hostile creatures. Next to that is probably mining, especially in the caves. Just be very prepared for caves, as they present a lot of unique challenges.

Nice to see this game again, might try putting the oxidizer into your house so you can create a room were your oxygen remains full, handy for oxygen waypoints during long trips were ocote is rare.

Oh! I should fire this up again myself! It's been a while, but you used to be able to hydrate just by being underwater. Just float there and you'll see the meter go up.

The Oxidizer transforms the oxi-ore more efficiently - you put in 10 and refill by clicking on it, so youre tanks in youre suit fill up directly.

I actually started playing Icarus after watching this. I was reluctant when it first came out because of the lack of an option to stay based planet-side, but this is clearly no longer an issue. Love the high-quality content, as usual!

Noob help here. Adding more I watch the episode. Disable the killcam. Too many times I either lost where I downed the animal while the cam were active or I were attacked by other animal. Wolves are PACK ANIMALS, after all. ...you can also move while the killcam were active. You can stay safe from the stroms in a cave. You can also make your base in there. Just be ware of the pneumonia. The worms in caves are very easy and when you make at least bone arrows, they are even more easy. Sneaking shot to the heads of animals often drops them in one shot. Two if you use the stone arrow. Also, when walking / running in the forest keep the interaction button pressed. You gatrher everything in your path. Get EXP and save some time. Also also, remember to harvest the treestumps, too. Also also also, the drying rack is amazing! Apart from the normal small meat (meaning stringy meat etc) you can dry it, too. If you cook your soft meat (and better), you'll get prime meat that increases your EXP. But youy can only have one EXP bonus active at a time. (later this will change, a little but were are at the start here). so, when you get stringy meat and soft meat from the animals, cook some and dry up the rest. You get two eating bonuses from one meat. (later on you can up the active bonuses to 4 from 3, which is nice). In short, eat 3 different kind of food (ONE can be that prime meat) and get three type of cumulative bonuses. Very effective. Also also also also, that Terrenus, the adult animal is protecting its youngling you can tame to be your transport. Also also also also also, grab all the salt you can and store it until you can make a salting station. Makes the food last 100% longer. Spoiled meat is used to make medicine (herbalist bench and mortar). Usefull if you have the tendency to get poisoned. (caveworms and bity fish). CTRL + left click moves the whole stack to the container / active belt from the inventory. Also also also also also also, use your axe to gather the rest of the bones from the skeleton. Don't deplete your knife into it. And if you leave some meat into the carcass, nearby meat eaters gather at it to eat it. Easy pickings. ...And if you encounter the bear, be calm. When it runs at you, just step left and forwerd a bit, sprint a second, turn and shoot. Repeat until dead. Or just before you make your sidestep, hit it with your knife / axe / what ever you have if your bow is broken or you have run out of arrows. I managed to kill a polar bear with an iron knife without taking any hit myself. Also also also also also also also, thatch building is useless, just go towards the wooden one. Need wood from the trees, not big deal. And when the storm arrives, wooden building can withstand more than the thatch one. ...and keep the repair hammer at your active quick bar. Sometimes you need to repair your walls and roof while the storm is on you. Collecting ice. By hand, one spot gives you one ice. Using shovel, on spot gives you infinite amount of ice. So, leave one easy spot untouched whn you don't have a shovel with you for later use.

I remember picking this up as well. Loads of cool stufff in the game, but also too many poorly designed systems. I remember the leveling system being especially horrid, having a hard cap on xp, basically making it impossible to progress, unless you play as a group and carefully plan out who skills what.

Some pointers, every food has a certain perk to it, you can hold so many types of bonuses in your "belly" at a time. 4 I think it is. So if you're going into combat, pick 3 that give you the best health and stamina bonuses and eating just for hunger you can use up your less useful stuff.. until you start farming and just eat good all the time. The butcher/hunting table is a worthwhile upgrade as can carry your kills to the table and get a lot more resources and it doesn't use your knife durability. Also the oxygen balloons and tanks with the oxidizer is a great upgrade as it lets you use a lot less oxite. Most of your metals will be in the caves, beware of the cave worms. Flash Storms are my favorite part of the game, just be aware that fire does spread in this game and trees don't regrow so if a forest burns down, you will lose a lot of nearby trees and have to travel further to get your wood.

The answers is yes. The game was great on release. Very beautiful! But what was missing was 2 things open world & excitement. Wolfs and bears got boring. Very boring.. then the fact there was no open world at all was just ridiculous. But finally after years they added open world and excitement with the new map. The game came a long way. It wouldve been bigger though if they started with open world and more deadly creatures. I love this games so much

You can harvest as much stone and wood as you want, form pallets of them and stack them up and form walls of resources on demand that way. I would keep a mini warehouse stocked up with wood and stone pallets all the time.

Also, talking about floating bases, towards the end. All pieces have to be supported, much like 7d2d every material type has a limit to support. a 2x3 is small, but there are a LOT of workstations in this game so your final base will probably be a 10x10 or bigger and at that size, you need proper supports or your roof will cave in. Also flash storms will damage wood. Concrete is one of the best mediums as metal bases are dangerous in their own ways but very poor at insulation so almost unusable in hot or cold biomes. Until you can build concrete bases, I'd recommend a lightning rod or 2 to save your base from the inevitable lightning strike. Also drinking water directly from the lake is what gave you dysentery. It's not that bad of a debuff but if you want to avoid it, you can make a rain reservoir.

I recommend having a veteran player join in with you to help you along the way. I’m enjoying open world with operations on new DLC.
