The Swedish documentary filmmaker Boris Ersson is producing a series of films about people who dedicate their lives to saving some of the finest forests on earth.
The film project is called "The Forest In Our Hearts".
In this 15 min film Boris Ersson is visiting the Gurukula Botanical Sancturary deep into the mountains of northern Kerala in southern India.
In this area the original forest was cut down and replaced by plantations of tea, ginger, rubber and other commercial crops. More than 90% of the original forests in Kerala disappeared and the biodiversity was seriously damaged.
Some 40 years ago a number of people decided to try to replant the forest, saving the diversity of nature. In this film Suprabha Seshan, spokesperson of the Gurukula Botanical Sanctuary tells the story of how the forest came back…
