IMO the point Gutfeld was trying to make is that people aren't equal, not everyone has the same potential, and we have to accept this. Equality can only apply to opportunity. That is, until equity of outcomes is the goal, then equality of opportunity is likewise destroyed and with it the opportunity to excel, thus the long slide into incompetence and collapse.

I can't speak for todays Navy but I was a proud member for 27 years ('64-'91) I can say, when I went through basic, we spent 3 weeks taking a battery of tests that covered EVERY vocation possible. Out of these tests we were assigned our "rating". In my case: Radioman. I hated it at first but then I KNEW this was for me... 27 years later...

So they changed this to a pre-military service battery of tests called the ASVAB test (Armed Services Aptitude Battery). I took it during my senior year of HS...scored on the 98th percentile (99 being highest possible), sadly, while under the influence. However, the Navy used this to desperately try to recruit me as a Nuke... I had little interest, but I didn't sign up as SWSE, a related field (Re: nuclear ballistic missiles), but sadly, when I discovered the UDT in basic in 1987 & crushed initial qualifying in Basic, I wanted nothing more than to try out for SEALS. My C.O. wouldn't release me, though, bc of the extended training of SWSE. BUT even though my personal experience was disappointing, I strongly believe in the best of the best available for each field, not the most diverse. Diversity came naturally, BTW. SWSE and the Nuke fields were not all white; just well-QUALIFIED. And the Quartermaster, Boatswain's Mate, & other less rigorous fields were not staffed by all minorities. Not even close. The trick of it all is to make things attractive for the best-qualified. Also not a racist/sexist/anything-phobic idea. Just an effective one. Iron sharpens iron, & all that.

DEI has been around for years, it's just the latest name for it. When I took my kids out of government schools to start home schooling, I found all three had been dumbed down 2 grade levels. When I asked them about it, they said the teachers had been ordering to produce dumbed down school work. You can get equal outcome in schools if you dumb down. This was in a nice neighborhood. More $ just helps the schools find better ways of dumbing kids down.

The 30+ years of being in our military I not once saw any color but green. Didn’t care who was training and fighting by my side. Did I like everything about everyone. No. But the minute we get into battle I want them to watch my back and I’ll watch theirs.

Greg, a better description of equality vs equity would be... EQUALITY is when you and Tyrus enter a wrestling ring, you quickly die, he easily wins, and he is awarded the gigantic championship belt as they drag your lifeless body to the locker room. EQUITY would be if you and Tyrus enter that same wrestling ring, but he has both hands and both legs tied behind his back, after you each floo around for a few minutes the ref declares it a draw, and you both are awarded identical "participation" trophies. By the way Kat is MUCH cuter in square, black-framed glasses than Greg! 😅
