My name is Crawford and I’m a farmer.
Being a farmer is more than a job; it’s a way of life. The good days can involve bringing new life onto the farm or sunny days outdoors whilst on others it's dealing with machinery breakdowns and on the worst days, sometimes animal deaths.
Farming can be isolating at times - away from the busy streets and city life - so this platform brings you closer to the inner workings showing the highs and lows and everything in between.
I hope to bring some context to how the food ends up on your plate, from your Sunday roasts to morning porridge and even the tulips on your kitchen table. Hopefully a bit of agricultural education along the way.
This video captures the latest goings on including crop management and our efforts to increase sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint.

Late to the party, but as an American who loves trying British/Scottish/Irish foods and snacks, my top 3 biscuits that I have had are: Rocky, Tunnocks Caramel Wafers, and milk chocolate Digestives. Haven’t had the chance to order other kinds other than vanilla and chocolate cremes. 🤣🍪, will be trying Fox’s Chunky Cookies when they arrive!

We had 2 out of 4 bulls this year so very poorly with their groups. They won’t get the chance again next year I’m afraid. One was about 50% and the other about 65%. It happens!

Percy is iconic with Crawfords farm, he will be a massive miss but needs must, just happy for you that euro settled down a bit and he looks like he’s doing his job, trying to lose some weight at the moment so I don’t even want to think about biscuits 🍪

Sorry to hear about all the open cows they are fine quite and healthy maybe take out all open ones and singrnize them and have them calf next year it will help to have beef for your store spread out you don't want any more wild ones

I know it's very late in the breeding season but i would not cull all the empty cows, consider keeping half of them and put them in calf, and send the rest to the factory, it's very hard building up numbers if infertility is a problem, consider using A.I. as a back up to using bulls especially coming to the end of the breeding season next year. Buy a young Angus fertility tested bull as a replacement for Percy, short gestation length and no dehorning. Best of luck with your suckler herd, it's hard work getting started and building up numbers.

Hmmm keeping a bull you already know to be sub fertile is asking for trouble. Big enough problems with good bulls going off or injuring themselves. Always semen test bulls it's expensive but so are empty cows.

@@CrawfordsFarm1 could always test him now, least you know for sure either way. Could be cows that have fertility issues. Maybe worth blood testing for trace elements

Could be completely fertile just lazy or gets tired etc wont really tell me much. Pretty confident hes the issue as was similar last year
