Sadly this is the modern state of boxing audiences. I’m all for free speech but ONLY if there is a BRAIN and modicum of intelligence behind it. A lot of stuff goes on ringside these days that would not have been tolerated years ago. I’m referring not just to Neanderthal men and rough slappers as they have always been there and generally are okay just rowdy but I watched a fight recently where a group of black women who were rougher than sandpaper screamed continuously for the entire bout. Seriously, I don’t mean like cheering, these “ladies” (Bill Burr voice) would scream at the top of their lungs and it sounded like someone had been shot and they did it over and over at the guy who wasn’t black or from the hood. They were also close to the ring like directly behind press row and they were stood up heckling and acting like wild animals for the whole fight blocking the view of people who had paid to see the fight live and NOTHING was done about it. Let’s be honest MOST or let’s A LOT of the people attending a live fight are not appreciative of the skills on show or the sweet science and thought behind the actions NO they just want to see someone brutally knocked out, plenty of blood and taken out in a body bag. This is the sad truth I’m afraid.
