This guy had his dad help him after he got a jumping cactus stem stuck on his leg. Unfortunately, after his dad flicked the stem off his leg with a stick, it immediately attached itself to his other ankle.

True story: one time I was taking the train home from work. The cactus variety is called Cholla (pronounced choy’-ya). They are beautiful and appear almost delicate. They are quite common in the Arizona desert where I first encountered them with much the same result. It is often referred to as a Jumping Cholla.

Within that, I found a similar looking Teddy Bear cactus variety. That page mentions the reproductive process. The answer seems to be yes, if I understood it correctly. There is also a linked reference to Jumping Chollas.
