and i don't get why people want to euthanize animals that are in the shelters. isn't "shelters" supposed to be a safe place for animals and away from the bad things or bad people?

@@Vin11381 I think the main issue is that running the shelters, feeding the animals and giving them medical help costs more money than the shelters gain. Too many abandoned animals, too little donations and income. So they kill off the animals who are unlikely to be adopted or too expensive to treat to give a chance to others. It's messed up, but I doubt this can easily change unless the society changes.

@@Evija3000 yeah, but if you are running short on foods or anything you could just transfer the animals to other shelters that still have enough food for them, you don't have to euthanize them. i mean, it's just sad for the animals thinking they would be rescued but when no one wants them, people in the shelter put them to sleep. it's like giving the animals a false hope

@@Vin11381 But most shelters are like that. They just generally don't earn/get enough money to take care of all the animals in need. You can't send the animals to another place if all of them are struggling and usually full. Some shelters just reject animals, but that's not much better.

No guilt trip, straight facts. Some shelters start a 'timer' the day the dog gets there. Three weeks and that's it. You come back a few hours late on the appointed day, the dog is gone. "Yeah, we said you could pick him up today, but we euthanize at 3:30pm because, like, Friday? You got here at 4:00pm. Sorry." "You said noon, you were late. Not our job to call you." No. In fact, because of all these "dogs abandoned to the shelter" videos I've considered volunteering at an animal shelter. I can't adopt because pets aren't allowed where I live, but when I retire if I live elsewhere I think I will adopt if only to save one of these precious dogs.

You are exactly right about that. When they have their ears in their tails I look like a normal dog. I think it's evil for humans to cut off ears and tails of dogs. My 2 year old Pitbull Loki still has his ears and his tail. My husband and I adopted him from our local animal shelter. He's the sweetest and most loving and super duper snuggly and very very intelligent too!! Pitbulls are the best dogs to own!! They certainly don't deserve all of the backlash they have received... All of the BS told about the Pitbulls is one hundred percent crap!! They are not mean or aggressive!! All they want is to be loved and have a forever home!! ❤ God Bless This Guy for what he is doing!! He will most definitely be rewarded for what he is doing here on Earth!! ❤❤❤

Would you recommend them for first time dog owners? I would like to get a pit bull someday and I'm not sure if I should wait until I have more experience.

@Kurupt Force Thank you for the reply! I hear a lot of mixed answers with this question, so I like to get multiple opinions. I heard that they make good dogs for beginners because they're friendly and easy to train, but I also heard that they're not always good for inexperienced owners because their high energy levels can be overwhelming. I'm also aware that they can be more prone to dog aggression (though some get along great with other dogs). And like you said, they have a high prey drive. I'd imagine that they need more consistent socialization with other animals for this reason.

@Kurupt Force You're absolutely right. Like any large dog, it's important to make sure that you're able to handle them. I still have a few years to decide if a pit bull is the right breed for me, but it's definitely one that I'm considering. And if I don't get one for my first breed, I might get one later on when I'm more experienced.

Blue Flare I wouldn’t recommend a pit bull as a first dog, they take a lot of work if you don’t want them to grow up deformed, they get a lot of skin problems, their hips go out if they don’t walk enough, so basically you need to be committed to walking him every single day, on concrete as well to help file the nails, as well as salmon oil in the food and vitamins for hip/body problems. Do your research on it and you should be fine, they just take a lot of work and they will want your attention all the time, theirs two types of pit bulls, blue nose and red nose, the blue noses will generally be a lot more chill, and most likely a lap dog, despite being like 90 pounds of muscle, red noses can be the same but they typically have more energy to play and will usually move around a lot more, as well as slightly more aggressive/dominant towards other dogs, but not exactly, only compared to blue noses, of course it isn’t always the case it can vary on the being (dog) itself as well as how it’s raised and the environment it’s in.

Blue Flare They are great first time dogs. They do require walks every day and they will take your spot if you get up. We have had pits for over 40 years and they do also require lots of love. They are extremely loyal dogs. Our pets have alway had chihuahuas for siblings. We have 6 kids and 6 grandkids and the pits have been good kids friendly dogs. Our pit we have now is kinda protective of the grandkids if we are wrestling rough she will come and referee . Xxx is correct they do have health problems but I have not run into anything out of the ordinary except the 4 th one had Addison’s disease, he required a specific shot every month. Normally a vet does it but my daughter is good at first aid for dogs so she gave the shot to him. A good vet and providing good healthy food and supplements works for my dogs. I have 6 dogs most of the time.

I grew up and studied this breed for years and know people who have bred grand champions pitbulls. @@karamellcreme my brother has always had pitbulls and they were always sweet, so I know they can be good, also other breeds can be just as vicious...im just on the fence when it comes to pitbulls...I saw vid here on youtube where a shelter pit killed a 4yo on the same day it was adopted, that dog gave no indication it would do that.
