Russo knew the risk and went for it. I’m afraid he’s going to be joining his father real soon as well. He died being betrayed by his lieutenant, but also died just like his father doing the right thing. He protected a little girl too. take a good look at his eyes as he shoots back. He’s accepted the terms and conditions of his job.

In the neighborhood where I grew up in New York, I use to know guys just like Russo. I just cried and wiped the tears from my eyes with this scene. My wife was like: 'why are you yelling at the TV!!!'

I've watched this episode about a dozen times...the realization of how to protect Jane is evident in his quick decision to get her out and away and each and every time I've cried over the death of a fictional chRacter..that is how good this season is..can't hardly wait til Friday..

The death is sad but the whole setup seems so unnecessary. No real incentive to leave the cover and die like that just to show that they would've been almost there. Also, bad guy teleports to girl. And the minivan is apparently completely silent.

I’m not no expert, but they had nowhere else to go if you watch the scene. And plus you don’t know what those guys are packing. Hell, they might have decided to put the bomb in the vehicle for all we knew. But they didn’t go for that .There was more than one person and with those kind of numbers. closing in on the two people, so no matter where they go, a bullet hits their flesh. His job was to protect the girl at all costs, and his life is included in that objective.

I love the Reacher character but episode 6 was so poorly written. Cop gets chased by bad guys, calls Reacher's crew but not 911 or any other cops to come help and doesn't drive to a police station. Drives into a deadend and gets pinned down. Bad guys with unlimited ammo continue to shoot at him from cover. Cop, knowing help is minutes away, leaves cover and needlessly sacrifices himself. Really?

Glad someone didn’t watch. Russo couldn’t call 911 lol. His boss is corrupt and he found out about it. He doesn’t know who to trust, but knows he can trust reacher and his team.

As much as I love this series, I hate it what they/the authors did with Russo. Aside the fact that a highly likeable chartacter portrayed by an amazing actor was killed, his downfall was sloppily written. It made absolutely no sense for him to heroically present himself in the line of fire when he knew that back up was just about to arrive. And then when he lay dying, not one of these highly trained investigators thought of applying pressure to his wound to stem the blood loss. The screenwriters could have done so much more. I have not read the books so I was desperately hoping that Russo would pull through and seeing that he had confronted his boss about corruption and Reacher having lost half of his crew, I would so have loved to see Russo join the team.

I guess you brain wasn’t working, he has missed the route to be intercepted by the 110th, he knew it was only a matter of minutes before the assassins push forward, the simple best choice was to be a distraction while what he saw more important than himself runs to safety, and a decent scene

This was so unnecessary/poorly written. The hit team didn’t start moving on them until he told the girl to run and he started going at them like Leeroy Jenkins 😂 He could’ve held out for 5 more mins for backup, his car was incredibly bulletproof!

I was looking foward to seeing that fight hed have between him and Reacher. This desth seemed forced. He couldve stayed where he was at. The goons only got out once he started rushing them. It wouldve made sense if they were bout to flank him but they didnt try that. He couldve survived and been the cop known to disrupt all the corruption in the NYPD and instead of dying like his father, been an example that the heroes dont always have to die when going up against corruption

And at the end you leave mother and kid alone just to so Russo not knowing if all enemies are dead or how many of them are, they just run to him happy and protected by god. My theory is that there will be a funeral for Russo and he will be "dead" but, in about season 4 or 5, he'll pop back up. They will have staged his death because they do not know how deep the rabbit hole goes, when it comes to the dirty cops on "New Age's" payroll. We'll see you again Russo!

@@DannyGamez7 That was kind of the point. Reacher unjustly gave him a beat down and he didn't resent Reacher for it. He shielded the widow and child of one of Reacher's buddies when the bullets started flying at the cemetery. He heroically saved a little girl's life, someone he didn't even know until 15 mins ago. His death is meant to hit us where it hurts.

Two or three hits to the shoulder wouldn’t have killed a man unless it somehow punctured his brachial artery….. terrible writing this season, considering this could’ve easily been avoided had he not tried to act heroic at the end, and are we not gonna talk about how Reacher left cover to confront a helicopter at point blank with a dinky lil glock compared to their rifle? Man if this were real Reacher would have atleast taken a shot and would most likely be 😵

Seemed unnecessary to just run out like that considering the others were on their way and the 3 goons sent to kill him were happy just sitting back at their car and applying zero pressure or moving up. I really liked Russo, but this death + the whole NOBODY can hit a single bullet on the GIANT Reacher standing out in the open made this episode feel a little comical. Same with the "professional hitmen" at the cemetery who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn either. Plot armour is insanely strong in Reacher.

This scene wasn't in the book. The TV writers are at their best when they just take what Child put on the page and put it on the screen, every time they try to "surprise" the audience and introduce their own material it stinks to high heaven.

He realised that sooner or later (at least logically) they would push, so he moved before they did. I still think he could've at least saved his life by using more cover though and still got the girl out of there.

This was such a pointless death, he didnt need to move. He was well covered, and back-up was on its way. It would make sense if the bad guys were closing in, the bullets where destroying the car, or the bad guys were about to get something to blow the car up. But none of that was the case. Not to mention, he was disrespected 90% of the time and used as an errand boy every time he was on screen, even though he's been a good cop for like 20 years

I wish he didn't but it's clear he did. Maaybe they can pull something with that ambulance comming, but honestly, better not. He just had his heroic moment, saving Jane, and made Neagley overcome haphephobia. If he survives, this scene won't be as impactful as it is now 🙄🙄

I really liked Russo. He’s making me proud to be a New Yorker. He’s right about the NYPD being an elite police unit. He stands up for NYC and isn’t a coward either.
