This tape is a special treat for Kovacs fans, since it features material from the final "Eugene" broadcast. Eugene was Ernie's silent innocent, whom we follow through a library and museum whose contents take on a life of their own. There's also one of Kovacs' most famous routines, the Tilted Table sketch. At NBC, Kovacs was a regular guest host of the "Tonight" show, plus the guiding genius behind his own TV specials, including "The Silent Show." He wrote a comic novel, Zoomar, about the television industry; did a nightclub act in Las Vegas with his wife, Edie Adams, and guest-starred on various television programs, including "The Ed Sullivan Show" after his NBC contract expired. Promptly hired by ABC, Ernie hosted the combination comedy/game show "Take a Good Look" from 1959-60. He performed dramatic roles on the anthology series then in vogue, and eventually created the monthly comedy specials upon which much of his fame rests.
