Already on it and man your mechanics are as smooth as ever. You should try out full trap specter with relic of cerus, amazing aoe cc condi and power damage. I run it in pvp currently and it's pretty fun for point capping and defense

what is your opening burst?

This is probably a very dumb question as I have only recently returned to GW2 but why exactly does pistol 5 + dagger 2 give you stealth? It also happens on my thief when I use dagger/pistol but I can't seem to understand why it does that as the spell description doesn't say it. Either way great video and hopefully one day I'll be as flashy as you when pvping with Daredevil!

@MvpDofus if it's dagger offhand it applies stealth on hitting the enemy

@@madhattigan1174 That one I understand as the tooltip says it, but pistol 5 and dagger 2 used in combination gives stealth too. It doesn't say it does that in the tooltip

In WvW balance you get 37% crit rate from the critical strikes traitline (fury included) and you get around 8.5% crit rate from signet of agility. So if you want to min-max youd want to get to 54.5% crit rate from your gear alone. Though many encounters wont be the perfect scenario so it wouldnt hurt to overcap a bit.

He about faced, a keybind you can set in your settings that turns your character around 180 without moving your camera. Very useful to master using it.

To be honest, it's pretty terrible. There are very few actual guides for Thief and the ones that exist don't really talk about gameplay. Especially if you don't count the outdated ones from a few years ago where we had quite a bit more people doing Thief content. All you can really do nowadays is look for the handful of really good guides by Moody and others that are hidden somewhere between the rest, and also watch good players stream their WvW and PvP endeavors. You will probably find their build to start off with and the have to analyze how they're playing and what their strategies are by yourself. If you're lucky, they're going to talk about it from time to time, but that's more luck based than anything else as finding twenty minutes of gameplay talk over like 5 four hour streams is pretty unlikely. So yeah, that's mostly it. You can look through the Metabattle guides for Thief as some of them may have short sections about gameplay appended, but overall it's mostly up to ourselves to figure it out. I honestly don't get why there aren't more content creators filling this gap because I think it's really obvious. The situation as it is today makes it incredibly hard for new people to pick up the class and not get frustrated really quickly which in turn contributes to the problem of shrinking populations across PvP game modes. And that hurts everyone, even those who could share their knowledge.

No. As in: if you're really good, everything works in almost every situation. But technically this build is made for single target burst damage and not for drawn out group encounters. You're useless once you run out of initiative.

@@davoinshowerhandle3302 I would but that mean I lost stealth on demand. Scepter don't have anything that can give stealth, so I can only stealth with utility or changing weapon, then I lock out from using scepter for 10 sec

You are not the only one, i also have this issue with 250 ping. I know from an older vid that Noody uses ExitLag but when i tried it, it made things worse. Things that i can't reliably connect are backstab, Flanking and Larcenous Strikes and often Cloak and Dagger if i don't use it with Steal. 1 reliable way to connect Backstab with D/P is to use Shadow Shot first and before the bullet reaches target, hit backstab.

I hate to sound cliché but practice makes perfect. With some classes you have to put extra time in practicing, dueling in the duel arenas and in wvw or in your guild hall and just keep at it. It takes some many months to get the hang of it. Especially if you come with bad habits like double tapping or you have a really high ping or ping that isn't stable. A no stable internet connection is a thief's worst enemy.

Sorry for being annoying but how can I do that? I just can't find it :(

I try similar setup with all trailblazer gear. It works but i feel like just put big dmg in fight in short time instead of let the enermy recover is slightly easier. Alot of classes has quick condi clense in wvw. And you would have to really manage your fights and positing much better if it drag on for too long.

He's running full marauder's with scholar runes i believe. The build stays the same for whatever power gear (like berserker's) youre running.

Run less berserker more Valk and marauders

Why...? There are so many incredibly easy to play Thief builds, it's really not that hard to learn a second one for open world stuff, especially if you're only doing casual things. This build is very specialized for one purpose

I’m yet to try it in spvp because shortbow is pretty crucial for mobility, but yea it would still work in PvP to kill people fast

But instead of scholar rune take vamp so you have atleast 15k hp

This is pretty cheese tbh. Stealth into stun into unblockable burst

⁠it’s not as cheese as some celestial builds, some stuff out there is so aids nothing can kill it, but they still do enough damage to kill almost anything over time. This build is cheese, but if you aren’t totally caught off guard you can dodge it’s burst and the thief themselves can be killed because at the end of the day, it’s a non shadow arts build. And also maybe I missed something from a patch, but this isn’t unblockable. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong though, I don’t keep up with most of the class changes anymore.

Same. The cripple can be helpful but yea I can't remember the last time I even used it in a serious situation in pvp or wvw.

one time as deadeye i spammed it against two players with m7 and haste, it dropped em both but yeah it is useless in pvp
