The CoJ receive one of the highest budgets every year of any municipality, probably the highest on the African continent. Where does most of the R70 billion per year go, if they still need to pass infrastructure costs to citizens.

Cape Town DA municipality charge R219.21 surcharge on my rates bill for prepaid electricity meter.

That extra charge is to pay for people in Soweto and hijacked buildings in the CBD, who don’t pay for electricity.

Gwamanda doesn't have the qualifications or the credentials to be the Mayor of a city as complex or the size of Johannesburg, a small rural village only. Under him, Jhb is ruined, people have lost their lives in a terrible fire, crime is rampant, services have collapsed, dirt is everywhere, rats are a million times more than people. Jhb city can never compete as an international destination anymore, where people woukd like to visit. It is no more than a dark and dangerous dump, full of criminals. But that's what the ANC likes because all ANC cities end up like Jhb. Areas of broken and useless infrastructure, fighting zones, pollution zones, filthy zones, disease zones, where nothing works and police are scared to go. As a city, Jhb cannot serve SA anymore

Keep voting ANC, keep returning the party running South Africa into the ground. It is, after all, the party that keeps on giving, more grief, more poverty, to the citizens.

Besides eletricity R219.21 surcharge for prepaid meters, DA Cape Town municipality also charge a water surcharge Fixed Basic Charge of R197.97 per month, this is over and above for water usage.

They can explain this all they want ....financially it makes no sense whether they sympathetic or not sympathetic they clearly are looking for the same outcome like e-toll, the embezzlement of funds shouldn't be the citizens problems. This sounds like the city's problem. This guy can stop talking with acronyms and start facing reality.

Emotionless you must pay a rental of R200 for the meter whats next laptop, or people using too much toilet paper pay a levy to maintain the sewer pipes.....

I reject this R200 tariffs no amount of explanation will make me change my mind to reconsider it.

At least CT YOU can see where THE money goes? At our business we had to pay R70 000 to replace a municipality cable as they said they had no money to fix it. Now,again another cable gone they said too many illegal connections put strain on this cable now. Who pays? The city of joburg contractors say no money. We are in Newtown JHB CBD. THE SO CALLED BUSINESSS HUB OF JOBURG 😂. WHERE BUILDINGS ARE HIJACKED AND ROADS EXPLODE NEVER TO BE FIXED AGAIN.

I just don’t think this will ever work as long as the unemployment rate is this high. If wrong economic policies are being pursued in combination ion with rampant corruption, the end result is high unemployment rates. SA government believe in big government instead of creating a level playing field for citizens to be creative and create jobs. Governments don’t create jobs, people do, but they need an environment that encourages entrepreneurship. SA is slowly running out of taxpayers, and that is a shame and a long-term problem. You can’t have few taxpayers continue to subsidize a lot of unemployed. The goal should be to increase the economic pie.

If we want service delivery in all areas even though not all areas pay into the system such policies are unavoidable… let’s not be hypocrites, property rates are used to subsidise poor areas the rich must pay their fair share otherwise vote differently.
